If you want to work in climate, look elsewhere
Pros
- High recruitment standards result in exceptionally talented, empathetic, and skilled colleagues, making it the most talented team I've ever worked with - Feature factory work on most teams offer ample product shipping opportunities, especially for front-end engineers
Cons
- Unreasonable deadlines and an expectation of weekend work result in poor work-life balance, even compared to other fast-growing startups - While individual contributors meet high talent standards, managerial expectations lack clarity, leading to inconsistency - Prevalent use of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) - Top-level mismanagement leads to constant shifts in strategic and tactical priorities - Frequent reorganizations and team changes hinder a sense of ownership - Diversity is skewed, with better gender representation but a lack of racial and socio-economic diversity - "Hybrid" means four days in the office; fully remote only for exceptions - Compensation falls below industry standards - Unclear career growth path In summary, I wouldn't recommend accepting an offer here. Exceptional talent aside, high expectations, immature management, and long hours make it less worthwhile. There are other climate tech companies that provide better career growth opportunities.
