The management was toxic, totally micromanaging and that's why the founder was so against us working from home. When I started everything seemed so nice, management was trusting my expertise, listened to my design ideas and advice and even implemented and praised. This lasted about 2 months where I had my 2 month review with my manager and the HR person. I passed that review with flying colours, they were so happy with me, didn't mention anything as a problem and they told me to keep it up. And the next month was the worst month of my career. I was micromanaged and treated horribly by my manager. There were 3 people in the office speaking Russian, the founder, my manager and an external freelancer, and they kept speaking in front of everyone else in Russian and we did not know what they were saying. The founder was most of the time either shouting on his phone or shouting at us in the offices, swearing at everyone and using horrible language. He was stating that he did not care about anyone of us and ordered us what to do. He even came to my desk one time, grabbed my mouse and moved things around on my design software.
During my 3rd month there, my manager was not asking for my input on packaging design decisions and instead was asking everyone else in the office in front of me. She was not speaking to me unless she really had to. I had holidays booked and the day before she basically gave me a probation warning for me to improve my performance. I go on my holidays for 2 weeks and when I come back I only had a week left for my probation to end so I put all my hard work and effort but it did prove a waste of time. My manager was still not speaking to me, I was isolated in the office and nothing I designed was good enough. On the day of my probation review she mentioned for the first time that she has been having issues with me (even though a month ago these were not there?) and that I am not good at my job etc.
