Very difficult place to work if you like people and value patients and want to see them do well
Pros
The benefits package is awesome - but I recently started getting collections notices in the mail for things that should have been sent to my insurance. I called the insurance company and they said they didn't accept the bill because there was a form missing that I didn't know about (because, telepathy?) So wellspan can't even get that right.
Cons
1- Management and leadership home grown from wellspan who are uneducated, not qualified, and incompetent. Any other viewpoint is seen as a threat and vehemently opposed. They then spend huge amounts of energy to protect themselves and save their ego while patients continue being hurt. No home grown wellspanner ever gets fired - they waste obscene amounts of money creating positions and moving people around to keep the incompetent protected. The best way to get promoted here is to disastrously fail at the job you are currently doing. 2- Patient care is atrocious and they care more about their own feelings/egos than doing the right thing. Providers are protected to a fault and celebrated for giving dangerous care. Nursing has no voice and are at a loss on the front lines watching harm happen and unable to do anything about it. Nurses are miserable, have no support, and their care and attitude is a result of this. 3- If you are an outsider, there is a target on you. If you are a minority or woman, forget it.
