Pros

Weslaco Independent School District is the largest employer in Weslaco, employing over 2,400 people. WISD staff members are dedicated to the principle that all students can learn, and has a strong focus on ensuring students graduate as life-long learners with the skills they will need to adapt to an ever changing work environment. Benefits include medical and dental coverage fully paid for employees, paid sick leave, and life insurance. Employees are paid a very competitive salary compared to surrounding school districts.

Cons

As a K12 educational institution, Weslaco ISD salaries may not be competitive for some occupational specialties. The majority of the positions are teachers, instructional assistants, food service, maintenance, custodial and bus drivers. Requirements for most administrative positions require a masters degree.

Pros

The insurance benefits offered are outstanding, providing comprehensive coverage that includes health, dental, and vision care, ensuring that individuals and their families have access to essential medical services.

Cons

The work environment has several aspects that could be improved to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity. This includes better communication among team members, more comfortable workspace arrangements, and the provision of necessary resources and support. By addressing these areas, we can create a more positive and effective work atmosphere.

Pros

I get to experience what it would be like to be a teacher because that was what I originally majored in until I changed it to business.

Cons

I didn't think it was going to be so tiresome. Students nowadays are so rude and at the end of the day the pay isn't work the stress
