Pros

Good pay and the people you work with are generally pretty genuine. Good health insurance. Not many other benefits though

Cons

Management is horrible and treats you like crap. No career progression. Toxic work culture where complaints get disregarded. The pay is good but when you work out your hourly rate vs the amount of hours you have to work due to them greedily understaffing projects.

Pros

Your coworkers (the vessel crew) are very diverse (20+ nationalities) yet we're a tightly knit crew, training at facilities around the world, operations can take you anywhere, zero expenses (no rent, food, gas, etc...), competitive pay, fixed step promotion program allows you to advance as quickly (or slowly) as you wish, serious focus on training, plenty of free time for traveling (~3-6 months vacation/year)

Cons

Working 5 weeks straight at 12 hours per day/7 days per week can take its toll on you, spend up to half of your off time in training courses or office assignments, away from family and friends for long periods of time, amount of training can seem overwhelming at times.

Pros

You can gym every day and there's free food. Sone nice people but after 50 days even these get on your nerves. If you like doing nothing and just want to cash a pretty large pay check then it will do.

Cons

No challenges. Whatsoever. You will get horrendously bored. You live on a boat for 7 weeks at a time and the holiday that you do get gets eaten into by training and crew changes, so it is more like 2 weeks. Poor communication. Schlumberger are imposing constant changes that hinder you ability to work. They have no understanding of how western work. Oil price is bad, but everyone is scared for their job as nobody is safe. They fire at will for little to no reason. Prospects for future very low. No career progression really, no transferable skills and not told about how bad it was by interviewers, everyone wants to quit but feel trapped by the large salary.
