Pros

Besides a few people who were enjoyable to work with there are no pros.

Cons

During my time working at Whalerock I was only met with constant obstacles. The company prides itself in "allowing their staff" to be creative and empowered. In fact, this is the opposite. The environment there is toxic, dysfunctional and has extremely poor upper management. If they consider you to be "out of line"--by their twisted standards your are reprimanded and ostracized. Their employees are herded like sheep and if you speak up for yourself in any way you are put on probation or simply expected to never speak your mind again. It's oppressive to work there, it's stifling and at the end of the day you have nothing to show for it. Employees at Whalerock are used and abused to the extent that employees have no freewill and when you speak up, you are punished. No one should considering working here.

Pros

I hate to say their coke machine because it's always broken, but it's something nice to have in an office. I like the Pacific Design Center. I like the random attempts at building company morale like Chinese New Year egg rolls.

Cons

-In this past year, more people have quit this place than I can list. I have never seen such turnover from any company. -The general managers have no idea what they're doing. -The company has no structure, no transparency and no vision for the future. -Every single employee struggles to define what the company actually is. -The websites that this company owns are irrelevant to the digital space and the apps are not worth downloading.

Not a great company

Pros

Has a brand new spacious office in a very nice building with nice desks. Decent Pay. Great PTO. Free food on small occasions, like finger foods on st Patty's day. Lots of parking, they have a huge parking structure. Location is great, next to lots of lunch options and places to take breaks, walking distance to lots of shopping. Work is not too demanding and has a laid back atmosphere.

Cons

Very high turnover rate, frequent layoffs. Zero team outings, team building activities, and they generally don't care at all about anyone's growth or skill set developments. Organizational structure is very weak- there's no direction, no team lead or strong directors to a department. A very "team-oriented" type of structure where each employee just figures out their own work as a result creating chaos because there's nobody owning anything and nothing gets done. GM's and the departments that work under them do not communicate. The GM's don't seem to be qualified to own their responsibilities and also don't seem to care much on what's getting done. There's 0 transparency from upper management to the employees on what the future company plans and goals are which means they don't value their employees at all, as a result the employees lack direction, vision, and motivation to work harder or at all. The company is constantly shifting directions on what they do. Technology shop? Online Media? Leading celebrity content? They seem to shift to whatever is trending at the moment and is not very focused on just one vertical, but rather multiple and random things.
