Pros

Their mission is important and the leadership is fully behind it. The founder is genuinely a great person. It is a fully remote job.

Cons

In terms of company culture, they do not practice what they preach. They will refer to the whole team as "family" but do not hesitate to cut ties with valued members of the team. Do not expect any career growth either, unless you are already on the management team. Pay increases are few and far between. I also felt like there was a lot of favoritism. Now that I am at an established company, I see more and more how much Wild Alaskan needs to get it together. The young company/start-up excuse can only go so far.

Pros

Free fish every month Remote environment

Cons

Was let go three weeks into the job with little to no reason why. The day before was told I was a part of the “team” and all the future projects to be transferred to me. Then the next day I got let go with the director of talent saying “this conversation is not up for discussion” Overall the employees were great but I found it very unprofessional how they handled letting me go. The VP of finance micromanages people, you’re expected to be in front of your computer for 8 hours. There is really no flexible and even with it being remote, the team’s expectations do not offer a work/life balance. Terrible pay as well for all the work that was going to be passed down to me. Asked to negotiate salary and they just gave me a signing bonus that I now have to pay. DONT TAKE THE SIGNING BONUS. Push for a higher salary.

Pros

Above average compensation. Really great coworkers. Decent benefits. Reasonably interesting work.

Cons

No more engineering management: fired earlier this year apparently. It's a big reason I joined this company was because of the maturation that I saw happening, but then they gutted it. Product direction is all over the place and priorities shift constantly because of how small the team is. They need to make up their mind and finalize an actual engineering team -- with good management.
