Pros

You get a nice truck and free gas for work and personal use. But in the end, even that is not even close to being worth the hassle of working for them.

Cons

Everything, you will not enjoy your life if you work here. They move accounts around so you never make commission, the commission structure is designed for you to behind big time after the first two quarters. I spent 18 months of hell there. Left because they took 50 accounts I opened and gave them to other sales guys. whaaaaaaat, who does that? terrible terrible company.

Pros

When the profits are high, the owner is happy. They do try to take care of the customers as best as they can, that they have going for them.

Cons

They treat the employees like robots. No sick days and a doctors note if you miss work or your fired. You always need to work harder and more hours or you are treated like dirt. This company only cares about profit and not about the people that are trying to help turn a profit, those that put in the hard work and make it happen. Unless you are the owner or immediate family you are constantly told how horrible of a job you are doing and if you are in the owners family, you can do a horrible job and still stayed employed and be payed handsomely, even if you completely suck at your job. Employee turnaround is very high.

The nature of the Midwest building materials distribution business is seasonal. During the busiest parts of the season, delivery and warehouse personnel are frequently scheduled with overtime. Scheduled hours can range from about 40 hours during the Winter to 60+ hours at the height of the season.

Pros

* Company Vehicle - GMC Sierra. Downside is that it's yellow and has company decals. $200/mo. is taken out of your paycheck. * Base salary is decent - 55k * Off on Sunday

Cons

* Work/Life Balance - Expected to be in the store at 6:45am, and in the field all day until 5 - 5:30pm. During the spring, summer, early fall, you'll take customer calls most evenings. It's also normal for your boss to call you at 6am, or as late as 10pm. Even meetings are at 6am so it doesn't interfere with working hours. *Saturday Hours - TM's work every other Sat from 7am-12:45pm. Come in to work the counter as a cashier, and clean the store (vacuum, dust, mop). Sat work is discussed up front, but it's a grind working those days. *Vacation - 6 days off first year. 12 off years 2-5. Must submit days at least two months in advance. Holiday weekends, the store will still be open the Sat before or after. *Commission Structure - it's very rare to make any commission in the first three years. *Training - No formal training or resources built around developing. Just computer videos. *Attire- Required to wear shirt and tie. It's very awkward when on job sites. *Industry- Wimsatt used to be the industry leader. Now everyone is similar. They all sell the same materials and rooftop deliver. The only way to get a competitive advantage is to take on more of the contractors work. *Culture - It's a weird place. Seems to be trapped in the 80's. The pressure to work lots of stressful hours wears on people.

We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. As a family-owned business, we value employee work/life balance. During the interview process, we are transparent about the scheduling commitments of outside sales positions. The Territory Manager role drivers business activity at our branch locations, and can be a lucrative opportunity for the career-minded individual. New employee onboarding and training is something we take very seriously at Wimsatt. That's why we've developed a 7-month development plan that includes both online coursework and on-the-job mentoring from sales and branch leadership with decades of experience.
