      Pros

      I appreciated my co-workers. They are what made the environment bearable. The salary and health benefits were good, too.

      Cons

      Confining workplace, micromanagement, treated like children by administration, poor leadership , timed to the very minute. If you're a teacher, you teach 2, 3 hour classes a day. Three hours per class is a long time. Also, your contract goes from September 1 to August 31st. It was very difficult not being able to bring in your cell phone into the prison. Incredibly hard for loved ones to get a hold of you!

      Benefits plenty of time off some great people get to travel

      Cons

      No per diem when traveling they reimburse receipts they approve Very very few pay raises Unqualified people often get the money jobs it's who you know and who you kissed up to Prison administrators often are very egotistical sometimes rude Offenders are getting worst by the day Benefits seem to be declining Retirement requirements change and are now more stringent

      Terrible place to work for a teacher due to admin

      Crazy enough but the criminal students are the only good thing about this job.

      Cons

      The administration is full of cruel, corrupt, petty, self serving bureaucrats. They will block any attempt to really help students. They care about funding and policy only. Teachers are used, abused and expendable. Student outcomes are totally irrelevant. The entire district is a farce... wasting money and faking any semblance of usefulness.
