Futile effort to build new product?

Pros

Seems to be a good market for the Wintac Online products that we are trying to build. Flexible work schedule.

Cons

The engineers are putting in a lot of effort, but the results are not there. The technical leadership often provides inadequate oversight and processes to the engineers. As a result we are many months, many late delivering a usable product. The technical architecture is problematic. It is pretty frustrating that every new feature seems to require extensive rework of the architecture, causing more and more delays. There are some toxic personalities in the engineering group. There is a lot of contentiousness and missed commitments, followed by excuses and finger pointing. There seems to be a lot of turnover. It is hard to build a team when people are always leaving. This is supposedly an Agile Scrum environment, but more chaos than anything else. We have 10 minute daily standups, but estimating and tracking is pretty much non existent.

Pros

Flexible work hours and interesting technology. Co-workers are friendly.

Cons

Technology leadership and management practice personal favoritism and provide little help to their staff. Software developers likewise receive little credit and get blamed for continual delays perhaps due to insufficient oversight, procedures, mentoring and feedback.

Pros

Opportunity to work from home a lot

Cons

The previous comments from "Futile effort..." got it mostly right about the WintacOnline side of the business. Objectively, the WintacOnline product is late. Really late. v1.0 was supposed to be released in November 2014. It was released in April 2015, but was pulled from the market in September 2015 due to quality and feature gap issues. As of January 2016 the product has not been relaunched. But they are "working to make WintacLawn even better" Subjectively, maybe they don't have the right leadership in place. They have had the same technical leadership for the last 20+ months and still no product on the market. The senior management does not seem to have sufficient experience leading software companies to ask the tough questions of the engineering group or challenge the answers coming back from the engineering group.
