Fast-paced, fun, great benefits, but moody management at times.
Pros
Overall, WSFP is a great place to work. You get to work for one of the largest events in the state, meet plenty of new people, make some cash, and gain experience. Supervisors are pretty understanding, and the culture is focused on both employee and customer satisfaction. Most days are extremely fun. Don't forget to use your staff discounts! It is a fast-paced work environment, which is great for people like me, but not for others. The management is also cool most of the time (see cons) and they do everything the lower employees do. If you show exemplary performance, you may be hired for the year-round event season. You're always encouraged to have fun on the job, but doing your job correctly comes first, especially if you're at the gates (audits are conducted frequently).
Cons
Opportunities for advancement are not that great. For most people, it takes 5+ years of experience of working at the park to even be considered for a promotion to department supervisor. Park management seems overwhelmed at times, and this can swing their moods as fast as the merry-go-rounds. This may result in negative interactions at times with managers. Also, everyone is underpaid. No one at the park has control over that though, that's the people over at the Department of Administration in Madison. It's always been said that you won't get rich working at WSFP, even in a management position, since most managers barely make $15.00 an hour.
