You get to work abroad and meet lots of really cool people in the human rights field.
Cons
The organization is broken on the inside; therefore falling apart with the years. The pay is unsustainable for any human being and the accomodations are poor. There is no support from management.
Witness is super grassroots and can give you a lot of freedom and flexibility to do your job. If you want to work closely with human rights defenders, social movement, and civil society organizations in Latin America, this is the organization for you.
Cons
The low pay is fine while you're in Latin America but challenging if you need/want to go to the US. International team members have burned out because of the challenging work environment.
