Pros

Company Benefits are "fine", employees are nice

Cons

Pay is minimal , Management is terrible: couldn't care less about you, I couldn't speak for the rest of Wolverine Trading, but the Hedge Fund needs some serious work with management: Communication is poor, on-boarding process was terrible (boss never wanted to help: this certain person was arrogant), favoritism is key here (if you want more work make sure the boss likes you or you aren't going anywhere). Was told by numerous employees that my boss talked bad behind my back. Horrible team culture.

Pros

Excellent employee benefits. Competitive salary. Free breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Cons

For all the positive talk of the flat managerial structure, I find it odd that a key partner who managed my group never once spoke to me or introduced himself after five years. It was the kind of office where a key upper management person spent his days bouncing a ball and swinging a golf club past my desk. It's the kind of place where if you ask for assistance and you get a dirty look in response (as I did several times), you're not likely to approach that person ever again. Wolverine prides itself on its meritocracy, but that only extends to those deemed "favorites" by the short-sighted partners. It's the kind of the place where, on an annual basis, every employee must, distastefully, compose a secret review of a fellow employee's strength and weaknesses. It's the kind of the place that spends a fortune on its Christmas parties where less than one-third attend, if that's any hint of the "inclusive culture".

Pros

Partners and coworkers are all honest, trustworthy people. Healthy collaborative environment.

Cons

Very tough, regardless of your talent, to crack into Principal level (big bucks). Much of their current top management is of a foregone era. Maybe they were good traders in 2000-- many principals now are...well...useless to the company.
