Pros

The mid- to lower-level staff are wonderful people. They are incredibly smart and passionate about the work they do. They form strong bonds with one another and with clients.

Cons

The new CEO (Niketa Sheth) is extremely despotic and disingenuous. The directors are authoritarian and manipulative. The associate directors are powerless to act. The management is destroying the staff and agency.

Pros

My coworkers are so supportive and amazing.

Cons

Upper management's behaviors are appalling. They replay the very abusive dynamic that we're trying to combat in our work, with its own body of staff. The company culture seems off. At first, they seem way too sweet, cheering you on, let's all do self-care vibes. But if you disagree with them, there's a good chance you're going to get retaliated. Upper management have poor managerial skills + lack of awareness of their own biases, that result in abusive way of interacting with staff. For ex: upper management have very poor boundaries. They favor certain staff, while gossip/badmouth other staff to your face. Again, I'm just sharing my honest, truthful experience of working in this company. Upper management, please do not throw temper tantrums when you're upset. This includes, discharging your anger at staff, making passive-aggressive, snarky remarks at staff who dares to speak up, shifting the blame to others. Please do not silence us once again by burying this honest review with random "positive reviews". Pros

No pros for me personally.

Cons

The office environment and culture is strange and depressing. Prepare yourselves for a lot of micromanaging from the directors and managers. Not a good environment for a full-time position. Management does not appreciate hard work from their employees. It's either their way or no way at all. Company is very falling apart without cash and support. The upper management doesn't care the employees and clients. Most advocates have very heavy workload and pressure with low paid. They care their benefits and paid.

We value your feedback. The nature of our work can be challenging, and we strive to support our staff in any way we can. We encourage an autonomous and cooperative teamwork environment at Womankind. Most of our staff at any level are expected to be self-managed to work and address their workload with or without supervision as per the demands of the work. Our pay structure and budget align with the average of non-profit social service organizations in New York City.
