Great Company Culture

Pros

I enjoy working at Wood Partners because of the culture. It is very collaborative where everyone has a voice and can impact change. There are always politics in companies, however this company really does not have politics in their culture. Upper management does not have egos and works closely with the all employees. Lastly, everyone is focused and we accomplish a lot, however we have a lot of fun and the energy is very upbeat and positive. The CEO, Joe Keough and Senior Director Steve Halsey are very nice and come off as caring more about people than profit. It makes us employees feel appreciated and apart of a family. They probably make a lot more profit because of this, but that is a positive unintended consequence of them being good people. That kindness trickles through the company culture. Very good place to work and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and challenging career where they get to be apart of a fun and supportive company.

Cons

There was one downside, however it seems that this has really changed this year. They develop a lot of apartment buildings and the buildings eventually sell. This could mean that they property operators may have to relocate from time-to-time, however they have been growing and adding more communities that are longer term and stable to allow better stability to the operations teams. This has really changed since the beginning of this year.

Pros

Working class individuals are great to work with. Contract with some great subcontractors. Have a GREAT down to earth group of people.

Cons

If your not part of the “in crowd”. Your not worthy to share the air they breath. Select management has proven they can walk on water. The select management degrade their subordinates. They say they will provide personal favors, but don’t. Discipline you for taking a day off when you previously had it approved. Do not dare to ask twice. He that walks on water doesn’t follow plans, why construction sites are a mess.

Pros

AMAZING discount to live onsite of their luxury property. small western division so you worked closely with the VP of western division, and meet and worked with everyone from the President, Lead Construction Management, Scout Locations and Developers. They asked questions about clientele and work flow which make your voice feel heard and added a sense of fulfillment in your work load. Because it is a lease up company you are sure to make very good money through commissions and bonuses.

Cons

Make sure to get your proposed commission structure IN WRITING before being hired. Ours was a different structure than promised which created a backlash with employees. It is a very green company in terms of California clientele and lease up and so you will need to learn EVERYTHING to keep the property running smoothly (I even budgeted and negotiated Team Too Pest Control services). Prepare to work sometimes 13 hour days with a seemingly endless work load. We often took work home or left the day with a sense of unease because of all the work still left to do.
