Pros

Nice architecture, art, quiet campus, can be fun, new CEO

Cons

Angry, disenfranchised and abused employees are forced out and labeled disgruntled. Board of directors uses bully pulpit to drive rifts between departments. Took 2 years to hire a CEO

Undervalues its Employees

Pros

It's located in a great location and the staff care about the organization a lot

Cons

The Workhouse undervalues its staff. The pay for an associate with a B.A. or B.S. is that for which a high schooler can make at Costco or Sam's Club ($15) at the time of posting. There are little to no opportunities for advancement here and the wages are stagnant. Aside from pay I have personally been here for a year and with a staff size of approximately 17 employees I have seen 5 employees leave in the span of a year. The turnover here is a good indicator of how employees feel at the Workhouse. They provide little training in my department. I have never seen an employee sent to a management bootcamp or a consultant come in and improve some of the managerial skills of our employees. The board does not re-invest in human capital so we can be more efficient and produce a better experience. One may think that you would not have to interact with the board on a daily basis and interact only with upper management. But the turnover is too high and because of the vacancies members of the board have an overarching hand in the daily affairs. While that I suppose would normally be okay they are not receptive to ideas that the staff brings forward and are quick to say no if it impacts their bottom line. While most of us are educated and have experience our voices are not heard and opinions are quickly discarded.
