Pros

At the time, a lot of freedom to be very entreprenurial within your designated group. I found the environment to be very relaxsed. Not a lot of clock watchers. As long as you got your job done and done well, they left you alone. They had a lot of virtual jobs when the previous managment was all about work/life balance which seemed to work well for most, but as always, there were those who abused the privilidege which had some negative consequences for others

Cons

Once the company brought in the new CEO for the specific purpose of merging/selling the company, layoffs began to make the company look as profitable as possible and damm the results across the board. Many were let go without so much as any forethought or analysis about what they did and their contributions. Many other positions were off-shored to India and other places all to the detriment of the customer and the moral of the employees who were left. A once proud and successful company resembled the aftermath of a garage sale and was a skelton of its former self
