Burning Bridges: A Candid Review

Pros

I met a couple of great people - mostly all gone from the company now.

I started my journey at Wrapbook with high hopes and excitement, but unfortunately, my experience quickly turned sour. Initially, the company seemed promising, with supportive teammates and effective management. However, within a few months, everything took a nosedive. One of the most concerning aspects was the drastic change in company culture. What was once a people-centric organization that valued its employees suddenly shifted to a mindset where working there was deemed a privilege, rather than a mutually beneficial partnership. This shift in attitude was accompanied by a lack of respect and support for employees, leading to a demoralizing work environment. The department I was a part of transformed into chaos, resembling a dumpster fire. People were let go without proper backup plans in place, leaving the remaining team members overwhelmed and unsupported. The manager’s lack of leadership and direction only exacerbated the situation, as they seemed more focused on reminiscing about their previous company rather than addressing current issues. Furthermore, the company seemed to have a knack for setting employees up for failure. Constant major changes without adequate preparation or communication left many of us feeling frustrated and disheartened. It became evident that the organization’s priorities were shifting in a direction that didn’t align with employee well-being or success. Job security was non-existent, even at higher levels. The company hired department directors only to dismiss them unexpectedly. This lack of stability added to the overall sense of uncertainty and unease among employees. Additionally, Wrapbook predominantly consists of engineers, making up 80% of the workforce. This imbalance creates a stark contrast where engineers seem to operate in a different realm compared to other roles within the company. Overall, my experience at Weapbook was disappointing, to say the least. While there may be potential for improvement in the future, significant changes are needed to address the toxic work environment, lack of support, and leadership issues plaguing the company.

Run away, don't walk!!

Pros

Being reimbursed for your WFH office setup was nice, as was being remote. The company is happy host "fun" company events. Super helpful IT department There were a few really nice people there that seemed to actually care about you as more than an employee. V-E-R-Y F-E-W Pretty diverse and inclusive group of folks so that was nice. The majority of employees were actually really nice.

Cons

I was hired and told to expect it to be slow at first, and told I would be helping with one thing and was thrown everything but that. It was also in no way slow at first it was drag race fast into a wall. Training for the role I was in was severely lacking. No process documentation that was clear and concise, let alone current. Multiple processes for one task, one ten minute training on a major task in my first week, and then because people were fired from the team and out on leave big responsibilities put on the new person, and then they say we know we did a terrible job training you, but you're a terrible disappointment of an employee. (Professionally of course) Typical payroll start up issues. EXTREMELY siloed departments. If you are any sort of support you don't get certain company holidays off, not really provided with an option for In Lieu day. If you do go to a company event, be prepared for more work than the expected fun, especially if you are in a support role. Most of the employees complain coming back that the most recent one was said they should have just stayed home. Employees getting sloppy drunk at company events. Slack camera on all the time. And if you are someone who doesn't stare into the camera management might think you aren't paying attention, or if you smile that you are laughing at them. I was warned coming into the company by team members that certain members of upper management were to be avoided or tip-toed around because they were hot-heads and liked to tell employees they didn't deserve their jobs and could get fired like their previous manager.
