Pros

They hire some really great people, everyone I worked with was really intelligent and hard working. Work life balance is pretty good for the most part.

Cons

It’s really difficult to come in at a higher level and succeed at Wunder. Beware that they will not hesitate to suddenly let go anyone at any point new or not without warning if the leadership decides that it makes sense. They are a solar developer but only have two people with prior solar development on staff, and none of the leadership team has solar development experience. This creates an environment where experienced new comers cannot provide their educated opinion if that opinion does not align with the fake internal goals set by leadership. I saw 5 really good employees in the last 6-7 months get let go super suddenly without warning. They will fire an employee even after having only hired them 3 months prior without warning. It happened to me and to others who had even been there for 2+ years. It’s sad an creates an environment of fear of getting suddenly let go. Which they do without severance and immediately cut benefits, if you are supporting a family I do not recommend working here unless you have savings to support a period of job loss. They do not care. Also there is no growth trajectory once you get in, there are people who have been there for 2+ years but have moved around so much they never saw and will never see a promotion despite “goal setting” with management. You will get siloed into remedial tasks that make no sense.

Pros

Work-life balance (unlimited PTO that people actually use), fully remote (although they are trying to get people back to office), many of the existing employees are intelligent and hardworking

Cons

Wunder claims to value employees who provide honest evaluations of their day-to-day experience & where the business is going, but in reality is an autocracy where the CEO and team leads set the entire direction and the team must follow. The company frequently makes shortsighted decisions, which is why they've been unable to close nearly any business since 2019. Their most recent funding round reflects this, as multiple potential lead investors backed out. Wunder shows its lack of understanding of its own industry by insisting upon absurdly stringent requirements on small projects, rendering themselves incapable of closing projects.

Good team, but insular and lacking in strategy

Pros

Wunder has kind and smart people on the IC level. It is a pleasure to work with them. Work-life balance is fine, and people respect boundaries. Interesting problems to solve.

Cons

Other reviews say this and are right. Wunder is cliquey and culty. Ideas either need to come from long-term employees or employees with big titles. It acts as if challenges have never been figured out before, touts "first principles" approaches, then comes up with ideas solely from its own biases. It never considers if the ideas worked or are good. Leadership spent days at an offsite to come up with strategy. The "strategy" was a decision-making framework that was announced ... and was pretty much never used. It imposes such tight restrictions on projects, it has trouble closing deals. DE&I is tragically poor.
