Lack of transparency and unfair workload for freelancers
Pros
Flexible freelance schedule, you can decide your own workload. I had a good manager, who was genuinely supportive, but unfortunately, she didn’t have much influence on the overall system
Cons
Low pay and a completely non-transparent process. There’s no clear explanation of team structure or responsibilities, and no proper documentation or training materials. When I joined the company, I was told my task would be to color existing line art, but it turned out I also had to fix serious mistakes made by other artists, something never mentioned beforehand. These fixes sometimes took up to a third of my working time. New unagreed tasks and requirements kept appearing. The company had very high expectations of my work quality because of my high skill level, yet I was often sent really poorly drawn to clean up. It was unclear why the same standards were not applied to the original artists. When I raised questions or suggested workflow improvements, no one replied. The extra workload and revisions were never reflected in the pay
