I was hired by Xillio as a data migration engineer. During the one month onboarding program, I was given a list of tasks to do, as well as a task from the software developers’ team. Due to the agile nature of the team, most of my time was spent trying to meet deliverables for the sprint reviews. Not once was I onboarded with the data migration engineers, but I was let go from the company because I “did not have enough enthusiasm for the role” - a role I did not even do. In addition to that, I had seen management scold employees even though the structure of the company is supposedly flat. I was assured by many colleagues that I was doing fine and my progress was good, and that the final onboarding presentation was just a formality. I put a lot of effort into that presentation only to be told that it did not wow them like the presentation I did during their interviews did. I even received warnings for leaving the office early (to continue working from home) even though majority of the employees work from home - there would be at most five people in the office everyday and I was one of them. The experience was pretty traumatizing and I would not wish that on anyone.
