Pros

YMT has a great product. I learned a lot during my time at YMT until last year.

Cons

unfortunately the management changed completely throughout last year and 80% of the management splits their time between two different businesses with much more focus on the other business. The whole executive team and senior management left or were asked to leave within the last 1.5 years. The work load for existing employees got doubled and more - without more compensation, or promotion. The office culture has completely changed, employees are not valued, nor trusted or respected. Favored are the ones who are “ clique” with certain people. Change is great, if executed from professionals that actually understand the business. Humanity & fairness are unfortunately missing.

Pros

The building and office space is great, the campus offers many amenities, access to public transportation and many lunch places in walking distance. There are plenty of open areas outdoors to take a quick break. It makes a positive difference to like the space that you are working in and that is certainly given at PCT in El Segundo. The company seems to have plans to move its offices which they announced it in a company wide email.

Cons

With the departure of the CEO, Jerre Fuqua, who was an excellent leader, the vibe of the company immediately changed negatively. The corporate office put in place a part time CEO to oversee this company together with a sister company that is of a completely different nature. While change is not always bad, the new leadership lacked the capacity to listen and win over key personnel that had built the company for about 10 years. The part time status based on the necessity to run two companies does not encourage listening skills of course, as there is never enough time in the schedule to actually listen. Normally one would expect that in cases like this the existing team would be strengthened through expressing confidence in their abilities, perhaps mid level people given more responsibility, but this was not the case. Accomplishments achieved over the past few years were belittled instead, people from the sister company were brought in and promoted ahead of those that actually had built the company. As result a rapid exodus of pretty much all Senior Management happened. Knowledge transfer was minimal. The remaining team is more or less depressed when before this company excelled due to its excellent team spirit, which was evident in guest satisfaction and product offerings.

Pros

The work-life balance is great. Their is definite room for growth, if you are willing to work for it and show that you can do it. The company is going through a transition in new leadership. With every transition comes growing pains, but I can definitely see that the changes are for the better. Quite a few of the systems and process were a bit "old-school", so new management is trying to bring processes up to speed, which is a great thing. It reduces the amount of time spent on certain tasks and allows for more reliable results. Although I can see how this may worry employees, I feel this is definitely for the best for the company to move forward.

Cons

The transition has not been for everyone. Many of the employees have worked for YMT for many years (5+), so I feel like change is difficult for many of the employees currently at the Company. The morale definitely needs to be boosted, but I feel like once things settle this will not be an issue. As I mentioned, these changes seem to be for the best.
