Pros

Flex days/times- generally good about time off on short notice. Depending on who you are under, your not micromanaged and allowed to just do your work. Hard to be let go once past probation period.

Cons

No mat leave (unpaid time off only) so you have to save your pto/sick time to be paid or your mat leave. No hybrid/remote work at all. can't opt out of insurance (it is paid by the county though not from your check) but it would be nice to have the option for payout to be on other insurance plans outside the county. hard to move up as people stay for the long term even when they aren't workers.

Pros

Everyone is very friendly and helpful! There is opportunity for growth and learning as well. Yavapai County has recently revamped their vision and culture to promote growth, accountability, and a positive work environment. Really good work-life balance.

Cons

Less pay than your average firm but still a competitive base salary. (There is a mandatory 12% contribution toward your retirement that takes a chunk out of your check). And since it's a government job so bonuses aren't really a thing due to limited funds. However, they match that 12% and they are generous with time off. PTO carries over into the next year and you can keep accruing until you reach 480 hours! Sick time also accrues and carries over.
