Avoid what seems like a good entry level gig

Pros

Some independence and easy office environment.

Cons

Asks for honest feedback but doesn't make changes. Disorganized and deceptive about the magazine's production. Publisher burned bridges with several advertisers and yet says anyone who can't sell isn't trying hard enough.

Pros

I can’t thank the YS enough for giving me such an amazing sales growth experience. I worked for Shavonne for over 4 years and learned so much. She trained me on sales tactics, time management, artistic growth and so much more. It was a rewarding and fun environment. Furthermore, she gave me a wonderful review and helped me grow into my next sales career when I moved back home. I loved my time at YS!

Cons

The deadlines were sometimes long, but again you could make a lot of commissions depending on how much you sold. Your hard work was definitely rewarded!

Pros

Shavonne provides opportunities for growth and even allowed me to "find my voice" while working at Yellow Scene. I became a jack-of-all trades - first being hired as an editorial assistant, then taking on some graphics work, and then taking a writing job. I continued with Yellow Scene for years as a freelance writer even after officially leaving my position as assistant.

Cons

Working for a periodical is very tough. Timelines create a lot of stress and not everyone can handle that kind of energy. Putting an issue "to bed" could sometimes require late nights.
