Pros

Casual atmosphere and dress code, shorts required. Pandora playing in the background on the sales floor. Cool refurbished three story building with easy parking in downtown.

Cons

More telemarketing than it is professional sales. A less than exciting comp plan and benefits. Micro-management. The CEO is a narcissist. And not the good kind. This is the secret on the sales floor. Everyone knows, but no one says a word. He's unprofessional, condescending and arrogant. And simply not as good as he thinks he is. Don't believe what you read in their marketing efforts for recruiting or their embellished work environment. Most of these guys would never see their given title if they were not self appointed and in fortune 500 companies. Common office interchanges and pleasantries with management feel forced and less than genuine. The atmosphere is that of a clique. You're either in or you're out. Favoritism is blatant and nepotism is healthy. All of this producing a high turn over environment. Stay away.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I’m sorry to hear that your experience at ZMac did not match our intention of being the best place you have ever worked. We’ve worked hard to create a company where people are valued and feel empowered to succeed, but we recognize that our unique environment and fast-paced industry are not a perfect fit for everyone. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Some of the people are wonderful The option to be remote or hybrid is nice It's a fun but stressful industry, you will grow a lot

Cons

Are you part of the family or a very close friend? No? Well then you can expect to never grow with this company and will likely be made to feel constantly replaceable... because you are. The nepotism here is on a whole new level. I would rate the employee happiness as superficial, as you speak to the more tenured employees more you will find out most of them fear on a daily basis losing their job, feeling defeated and beaten down by management; abuse is common. This is because the management style is micromanaging and unfortunately most of the people in these positions don't have leader qualities. The training program is subpar at best and by the time you are out on your own, don't expect to know what you are doing. Not to fear! Because if you are a management pet you will likely not suffer any consequences for your mistakes. If you aren't, I highly suggest connecting with a tenured employee who is willing to take the time to answer your questions and guide you through processes. If you want to last long and maybe have a chance of moving up in the company, always be a yes man. You will know if you are not liked by management, as they clearly treat you differently from ignoring you as they say hello to everyone to being dismissive of you. When it comes to HR handling issues, I would be very careful to what you say and bring to them. You can expect this will always be handled in an unprofessional manner, your words will likely be twisted, and it will likely always be your fault in the end, additionally there is NO privacy with HR. Which is likely why that position has such high turnover. As for the culture that they push so hard on you, some of it is really great however, you will quickly see how instead of keeping salaries competitive they will spend mountains of money on parties/events for their family and friends and call them work parties. Your workload will be tremendous, and your goals will set you up for failure unless you are lucky enough to have a teammate or some solid accounts passed to you when someone leaves. (again unlikely unless you are in with the family)

Pros

Only Pro to this gig was being able to have a cocktail at 3pm on a Friday after a stressful week of no accountability. Had a pretty cool mentor that helped me secure business a few weeks before they let me go.

Cons

To many moving parts to actually get anywhere. Prorated PTO that they decide to deduct from your last paychecks if you didn’t earn the PTO. They say that their culture is great but it really isn’t. There is about 15 or so sales executives that have been there for years and once a new employee comes on and builds up customers that the seasoned sales executives have failed at for so long and if that new employee isn’t hitting there goal then Zmac decides to fire them. The sales executives who have been there get all the hard work you put into securing those customers after all of there failed attempts. Kind of like the rich keep getting richer. Don’t let them fool you they are not a great place to work they do put on a good show though
