Pros

The only pro is that this job provides a paycheck.

Cons

While our province is in a declared state of emergency, during a global pandemic, Zedd Customer Solutions is continuing to run business as usual. Apparently calling people unsolicited to upgrade their cable packages, or their satellite radio subscriptions has been deemed an essential service. More essential than the health and safety of those of us hired to create that profit and drive those sales. We are not customer care, our authority lies solely in increasing revenue. Many employees at Zedd have babies or young children at home, and a lot of the people working at this minimum wage job, including myself, have chronic preexisting conditions. Not to mention the employees who are seniors, or who take care of elderly parents. I heard numerous times, first-hand from upper management that the novel coronavirus "is just a common cold" and that "we are all going to get it anyways". Price gouging pensioners on a fixed income should not be considered an essential service and the fact that it has been allowed to be classified as such is morally reprehensible.

Pros

If you live in North Bay and don't have much experience you can get full time hours with benefits ... its a place to start. - bonuses - benefits - full time paycheck - chances of getting hired are very high if you apply.

Cons

North Bay office leaves a pretty unprofessional impression. The dress code is lax so often people (including management) will be in denim or open toe shoes/flip flops (even in winter). There are limits in what you can and cannot wear, but they are not enforced with consistancy. Most days the sales floor looks like a picture from thepeopleofwalmart website. Sure its a call center and most of the work is talking on the phone, but this is just a foreshadowing of the 'pride' management/employees have for what they do. It should be noted most pay money every month to dress down and much of it goes to charity and 2 employee events. There is little to no room for advancement. Sometimes positions will be posted, other times people are hand picked almost at random out of what looks like desperation. This causes a lot of venom between workers that management seems completely oblivious to. Things are done on a very reactive basis at almost all times, from feedback to meeting targets. If you are bilingual, you will get a little extra cash on your hourly rate. If you're not, you might get upset when you see how the policies and procedures are often ignored in there favour because Zedd "can't afford to lose a french resource". Feedback/support from management and staff is poor (regardless of their claims) so you'll have to make sure you get things right rather quickly. If you expect an environment where your Supervisor asks you things like "Where would you like to be in the company and how can I help you get there?" ... you need to reconsider your application. Your calls will be graded regularly but this consists of reading/signing a form with little to no constructive discussion. Most sign and ignore the forms to avoid confrontation. Remember that this is a call center which is an extremely fast paced buisiness. People work in close quarters which can promote a lot of gossip, so be careful who you befriend and what you share. If you don't do well with stress, consider other options.
