Pros

- Friendliest people - Lunch room, gym, lounge w/ coffee, free drinks - Good pay! - Learn a lot from coworkers if you try - Easy to get to, free parking - wide age range of people - super relaxed environment - work on amazing games - get yr own cubicle/office, no open offices so you can actually get work done - really accommodating to some groups - designated smoking pavilion, motorcycle parking, - great insurance and 401k matching - company is growing a lot and very stable

Cons

- cliques in upper management, which affects bonuses, esp if you aren't good at self promotion to the cliques - bro culture, no effort to retain minority employees so biggest turnover is women & non-white guys - no advancement opportunities, no promotions. If asked about, you get vague answers and no actions - no profit sharing, just bonuses which vary wildly - PTO is 10 days, ppl with chronic illnesses get dressed down by managers/producers. Don't know how parents do it. (Also, sick peoples always in office as result) - reviews are awful. No standards for them, or even a guarantee if you'll get one. - crunch is optional but exists

Impersonal, treats employees as expendable resources

Pros

Good pay, good work environment.

Cons

The layoffs began six months after the project shipped- and we were suddenly escorted to the door. No warning, and some of the laid off employees had worked there for six years. And a week after our employment ended, our game accounts were terminated and our names were scrubbed from the credits. I spent five years very devoted to making the game the best it could be, and they rewarded that devotion with nothing more than a form letter.

Subpar pay, terrible upper management.

Pros

Many talented, creative, hardworking staff in development and in QA. Amenities are decent (gym, cafeteria). Top-notch health benefits and reasonably generous holiday schedule.

Cons

Pay for developers is far below industry standards--appalling for such an enormously successful company. Upper management openly flaunt their extreme wealth. Continual talent drain caused by poor compensation and little opportunity for advancement. Building (ZMI HQ in Rockville) is decrepit and poorly maintained, except for the areas occupied by management. Management is rude, self-important, and cheap. Nepotism is rampant.
