Where to begin?? Its an extremely toxic workplace hiding behind the idea that tech start ups are FUN and you're supposed to be burnt-out, underpaid, and stressed because fast-paced environments are FUN! See, they are FUN??!!
- Genuinely laughable that someone said there were no office politics. The CEO likes to surround himself with 'yes men'. As a result, the 'executive team' makes big company changes without any input from the professionals they hired to give that input. It also felt like there was some clear favoritism happening.
- None of the managers have any experience being people managers outside of Zentail - and it shows. There is a serious lack of empathy and accountability from management. Lots of talk of 'loyalty to the company', but no loyalty to the people on the team.
- Some seriously questionable hiring decisions and practices. Some positions were allowed to be fully remote for seemingly random reasons, while everyone else was forced to go in 2-3 days a week. Its a tech-start up, everyone's job can be done online. Why make people go in??
- Oh, and there's no HR.
- No true upward mobility. Promotions are practically unheard of. The salaries are not competitive in the market. Very little to no support for professional development opportunities.
