Steer Clear of the Interiors Studio

Pros

Cool office, ok work-life balance, used to be a big player in the corporate interiors market.

Cons

Poor interiors leadership - can't bring in work, on vacation/working from home all the time, can't manage projects/clients/fee. Major loss of creative and production staff. Uncompetitive pay. Way behind the times technologically. Non-flexible work environment. Lots of complaints over the years, nothing changes and things got worse to the point where the interiors studio has nearly collapsed. Poor COVID response didn't help either.

Beautiful space in the heart of downtown. Chance to work on high profile projects.

Cons

Pay does not match market rate. Firm culture can be incredibly toxic. COVID response did not match the rest of the industry and makes it hard on working parents .

Hard work recognized, good bonuses, nice office. Opportunity to contribute at all levels. Office culture has improved noticeably over the past few years despite covid. Many women in leadership positions. Culturally diverse office. Mostly regular hours (40hrs/week) compared to other firms of the same size.

Cons

Must work in-office 100% of the time. Leadership is not flexible on this despite other architecture firms, clients, and consultants doing hybrid work week.
