Pros

Some of the people are great here, the view is awesome, and summer Fridays. The pay is also pretty well and above other agencies for the position.

Cons

The agency is only focused on increasing profit through new business and not by trying to grow and improve current accounts or grow current employees. Instead of having upper level management work on current client accounts, they go on multiple new business pitches a week. This pushes all the work down to lower and mid level employees who are given very little to no support. The managers do not take time to develop their employees skills, which at a low level severely hinders their growth. Since so many people have left there are now teams of 1-2 people, this is not a team and leaves zero room for growth. Company culture, what company culture? Instead of rewarding some of the employees to helped improve the culture and dim work environment, Zocalo laid them off.

Pros

-Energetic and talented employees -Extensive technological resources -Rapidly grown over the last 3 years -Management encourages feedback and suggestions -Many perks: Beer Fridays, Parties, Happy Hours, and Philanthropic activities Zócalo Group combines a great community and an exciting industry to make for a uniquely fulfilling work experience. If fate ever takes carries me away from this place, it will be with a heavy heart. I hope to be a part of this team for years to come.

Cons

-Long work hours, it's not uncommon to hear about teammates leaving after 9:00pm when there is a big project or deadline -Rapid growth means space limitations are becoming apparent

Pros

One thing Zocalo Group prides itself on is an entrepreneurial spirit. This is truly one of the things I enjoy about the agency - it translates into a tight-knit working environment, access to senior leadership and really open communication to all levels at the agency. However, since it is part of the Ketchum & Omnicom networks, it is nice to have access to the types of perks that exist within this type of international network. On a more personal level, I've had the opportunity to work on projects that fall into areas I'm passionate about. Areas I used to work in on the side at previous jobs, I know get to incorporate into my full-time career. I've also experienced several opportunities to grow my career here. I've found that my contributions to the team have been regularly recognized and rewarded. I know I still have many opportunities to grow and move up in this agency. Lastly, I find the environment to be fun and casual. This doesn't mean there's any shortage of work, drive and ambition here. It just means that the work we get to do is interesting and always evolving. There are certainly no two days alike here. And let's face it, working in social media & working with bloggers/influencers is fun!

Cons

The job can be demanding since social media is always on & can require immediate responses even on off hours. Like any other quickly-growing company, there are sometimes growing pains transitioning from a smaller to mid-size agency.
