Pros

Great people, mostly transparent about what is happening with the business. Lunch provided everyday and room to grow.

Cons

Office first based on collaborating in person not flexible which is odd in the tech industry. Departments are siloed. Resignation and lay offs as of late.

Pros

Almost everyone is approachable, including the CEO. We were taken care of us with snacks and weekly lunches. There are Zonos outings for events if you are into that. Pay is competitive for the surrounding St. George area. The product has potential.

Cons

Not all workers are treated to the same standards. EX: There are several employees walking around all day, talking, going on bowling events, extended lunches, but there are other specific teams holding the product together who are directly client-facing. Nothing is ever a rush here, even if a major bug is present with the product. Training is pretty much "ok, *hands laptop* here you go!". No matter what department you are in, there are no training procedures in place. I have worked in places that are start-up environments before, but this was truly just a pure mess. It definitely feels like a cult with around 100 employees when I left. If you are not fully in the Zonos cult, you will be looked at differently. It is eerily weird how everyone tries to invade your life outside of work. When employees resign, nobody speaks about it. Once you exit the cult, you are never to be spoken of again ... this is something you just can't explain until you see it with your own eyes. NDAs are encouraged to be signed at end of your employment. They view themselves "as a family" here - that should be a major red flag to anyone looking to apply. These reviews on Glassdoor seem to all be written by the same person. The same grammar style, positivity. No workplace is perfect, so this should also be a major redflag. The wrong talent was hired to improve a broken product. There are several IT tasks opened for each new account that Zonos receives. You will have to constantly apologize for broken products here. The CEO also stated that "speaking about your salaries amongst employees is a fireable offense". What is there to hide? Is the pay gap too wide? It only creates a problem for management when employees know their worth, not employees. Are you afraid of employees leaving for better-paying positions? Another classic line from the CEO, "if you don't like it, there's the door". Is that really encouraging your employees to stay? CEO also stated to everyone during a morning meeting that he did not want anyone working remotely anymore. Why? We are a technology company! Our neighbors next door have not been in office during a recurring pandemic. Several employees are down with Covid. We are supposed to stay, infect, and endanger ourselves and family? Zonos likes to give you position changes (depending on your department), but no salary increase. If you ask for it, it is quickly shot down. Even though the company received millions of dollars in investment recently, this money does not trickle down to employees who truly support the product. It sadly did not surprise me... big red flag to anyone looking to be employed. When asked, do not fall for the trap of "What can we do better here?" They are gauging if you are truly a "Zonut". This place should unfortunately be viewed as a transitional job.

Pros

The people at Zonos have an unmatched loyalty, work ethic, and talent. You will not find a better group of people that are dedicated to finding answers and getting solutions.

Cons

You have probably already read my review from a few years ago praising Zonos for being transparent and trusting in their employees. This is no longer the case. Not only do the owners not know what their employees do day to day they don’t care. At one point this company was healthy and transparent and embraced their employees as partners in their goals. There is no longer transparency: meetings use to be held weekly explaining the good and bad of everything to do with the company. As soon as they got series A funding those meetings were once a month and then a document that the CEO and all other management knew no one had time to read. The leadership talk about caring about their employees when they try to replace entire departments with AI. Then boast about removing people from well established careers and putting them into their support team instead of listening or appreciating several people that have more than decade long experience. While their favorite employees (family relations/personal assistants) are given the fast track to opportunities and roles that far outreach their experience. Layoffs happened as industry standard so I’m not unfeeling about that type of decision. But leadership will only praise individuals they are work directly with and never the people keeping the company floating. This company is no longer the crown jewel of tech ridge. It pays as equally as other tech companies in the area. The culture that use to be fun and happy and motivating is dead. I’m sure HR will respond to this message saying they disagree and that is their right, but listen to those of us who were in the trenches and got trampled.
