Zovio isn't sure what Zovio wants to be

Pros

coworkers are great. employees can get a degree for free aside from cost of electronic textbooks

Cons

No clear future. Zovio is looking to sell their only client, Ashford, because they can't prove to the gov't that they have enough money to properly cover Ashford. They can't take on new clients until they are separated from Ashford, which can't happen until they sell it. Upper management mislead/lied to San Diego employees about job security once HQ moved to AZ. No one feels safe. Company culture and morale tanked since moving from Bridgepoint to Zovio. Stock price tanked from $10 last year to $1.40 now. Promotions and new hires have to go through the COO. regular promotions of 10% were put on a hold and given if employees agreed to a 4% raise. New hires are waiting several weeks after hearing they got the job to receiving a job offer.

Pros

Good benefits and they have a on site gym and cafeteria. Dress casual on Fridays.

Cons

Be careful when reading the reviews as management has asked that employees boost the Glassdoor ratings. This request to create fake reviews has lost my respect for the organization. Employees are not given empowerment as I've noticed many managers seem to micro manage. There are also so many different systems, its hard to keep track and when you get used to one, they change the application to something new. The company loses as many students as it gains. This company is always trying to stop the bleeding of student withdrawals/drops. If the stock value is low... look for some more layoffs. Company has constant change and management is clueless. No clear vision and every week its a new goal.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. We have a lot of work to do to improve systems, but there is a solid plan and our NPS and GPTW scores continue to climb. I'm not aware of any requests for "fake reviews," but we do encourage all employees to take time to provide feedback. Drop in for a cup of coffee with me if you have constructive and real feedback that will allow us to improve and continue to impact lives through education. philip.dana@bpiedu.com

Pros

Ice machines. If you are looking for a new opportunity and see that this is all I can say as a 'pro' for working at Bridgepoint that should tell you quite a bit about this company.

Cons

Leadership is misguided Talent is drained to the point of burnout then given a less than admirable severance package after working less than 2 years No really development opportunities Shady programs...makes you wonder if the reasons the California Attorney General's office is suing them is rooted in absolute truth Good at attracting smart people but you will get hazed and told you are nothing after the honeymoon is over. A lot of people are wasting their talent here. Leadership is discriminating and plays favorites for the obvious reasons but they talk about diversity and inclusion as if it is a true virtue Leadership expects you to work on weekends, evenings, holidays and thru the poorly timed company shut down. Leadership is full of bullies. Watch out. If you aren't invited to their after hours activities you can expect a package. Oh yeah, if you don't look like them, you won't be invited. A note to applicants who are fresh out of college: Do not come here. They will drain you and impress upon you their poor value system and non-existent corporate culture. They are far from reaching their Great Place to Work goal so don't swallow that kool aid. You will be used and exhausted. Direct your talents and energy elsewhere because this company is operates like a small equity firm which means they do not care how they get things done. The core values are fake and the culture is a joke. You will do better to start your own business or join a reputable company. The way this company operates is unique in the volume of their ill-mannered ways. Seek employment elsewhere, it'll be the best decision you ever made. Note: I do not approve of the CEO since he has allowed this to go on for too long.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but our growing NPS scores and Great Place to Work scores would indicate we are on a good path to impacting more lives through education. After attending graduation and family day in May, the true stories of our alumni and graduates were so inspiring! Seeing hundreds of employees out in the community for Heroes Day was also an amazing experience. If you can manage returning for a cup of coffee, I would love to sit down and hear your constructive feedback on specifics towards further improvement. philip.dana@bpiedu.com
