Lack of direction, leadership and HR

Pros

Liberal PTO and relaxed office environment.

Cons

Upper management live in a different state. Run by 20 year olds when they are gone. Product offering is all over the place. Thinking is optional since management is run as a dictatorship, except there are two dictators: the President and CFO, (and they don't like each other) and neither takes input or feedback well.

Pros

Full Benefits package (PTO, Health Insurance, 401K)

Cons

Executives are unqualified for their positions resulting in bad decisions. Blame is shifted to employees below them on the food chain to ensure the owner does not know the real cause of why the company is losing money. Teamwork is not encouraged, in fact, it is prohibited. Management make a habit of turning team members against each other. Management feels this drives people to be more competitive and work harder. However, this just results in a toxic environment where everyone is on the defense and ideas that would actually make the company succeed are not heard. All decisions are made on the whim of the CFO and President. There is no solid foundation to any of their decisions. There is also no solid foundation for the business model as a whole for it to be sustainable much longer or even a solid foundation for team work.

Major Dysfunction and No Change In Sight

Pros

- Most departments are really good to work with. Marketing, Operations, Regulatory, and Accounting are all very helpful and supportive. - You get PTO and the Insurance benefits are alright

Cons

- Upper management, particularly the Executive team, are so disconnected with how things are in the office. Almost all of the Executive team works remotely, so communication is awful and there is little to no planning because of it. - The President of the company and the Founder ask for input, but threaten the jobs of people who do recommend improvements to the office or systems. - Because sales have dropped off significantly and the company has laid off about 20% of their corporate staff, the environment at the office is very toxic and nervous. - The Sales Management is really lacking in vision and understanding of how to grow company sales. Promotions are not well thought out and rarely is there any follow-up to see if a promotion was successful or not. - Everybody in Senior Management wants to have a say in nearly every company project, but nobody wants to have the final say, so projects are rarely completed on time. If they are completed on time, the work is typically incomplete. - Very little upward mobility. Even when they were growing, there were very few actual promotions outside of the Executive Team members getting bigger titles.
