Pros

Engineering staff is phenomenal but groomed to put up with and act on questionable business practices. As a young entry engineer, you will learn some really good programming techniques, even some best practices. You will learn how to work and program as a team. You will learn about good project management.

Cons

Employees are groomed to accept the shady side of business practices as part of a norm. Division leads are more concerned with their egos than creating a good product and running an ethical business. This is endorsed by Human Resources. Human resources pushes employees to write favorable Glassdoor reviews so the positive reviews are coerced.

While we encourage our employees to leave reviews on Glassdoor, we do not coerce anyone to leave favorable reviews. Nor do we participate in shady business practices, this former employee did not provide an example but a rather general blanket statement so this may not be fair to defend. We do encourage our employees to leave honest reviews, good or bad so we can learn are strength and weaknesses.

Pros

They're a federal contractor with a good rep. From an employee standpoint, if placed in the right situation and environment, you get to work on the most fun and interesting projects with some smart and great people.

Cons

Company repeatedly fails to establish a feasible longterm vision and usually ends up reducing the scope or simply throws it out all together at the next meeting. The vast majority of managers are former engineers who try to bring the same approaches that they found to be successful when they were lowly engineers/analysts into their managerial duties which doesn't work. They lack the skills needed to inspire the people under them and are able to hide that deficiency by simply being fortunate enough to have a good number of self-motivating employees to perform quality work. Not much in the way of mobility or advancement. Your ability to network internally will help you to advance more than any accomplishment short of winning a new contract. Even moreso if you're on a team that lacks high visibility.

Pros

Awesome projects to work on. a.i. solutions does flight dynamics work for NASA Goddard, a great place to start a career in flight dynamics. They are flexible with moving people around on projects to get the experience you are looking for to start a career. Hours are extremely flexible and you can wear jeans and a t-shirt to work.

Cons

This company is on a gradual downhill slope. It used to be a small company with a great atmosphere which made up for the bellow market pay. However, every year the benefits and atmosphere have been slowly chipped away. You are expected to use your own time above the 40 hours they have committed you to NASA to do business development. Compensation is consistently below market. They have no program for bringing this up so make sure you get your money on the way in the door. There is no structure for promotion. You are either one of the large group of workers or you are the manager in charge of 17-20 of those workers. The company has their core values "Customer-Team-Company-Self", keep that in mind because they put you last on paper so do you really expect them to treat you well at every review. They cut prices for their customer, make sure the team is overworked to meet the customers demands at the lower price, then make you develop things for the company on your own time, then maybe, just maybe, you will get a little bit of self to work on and a pat on the back.
