Pros

Co-workers are like none other. Great teamwork and collaboration. Location is great, but inside setup could have been reworked. Coffee shop next door, though nothing seems to last. They pay you to read business books.

Cons

Are you looking for an unstable job (notice how I did not say career) where you don’t know if today is going to be your last? Well then look no further, cj is the place for you. The company is a total disaster, and has just recently admitted this. Instead of focusing on providing dedicated employees with a 401k and real competitive salaries, they focus on fake perks like beer camels and a casual work environment. News flash, I would much rather have a real salary and standard benefits, instead of some free beer every 3 months. And a casual work environment is not a company perk anymore. Look around, everyone is doing that. It does not make you cool or set you apart from other companies now. cj’s management is clueless on how to help employees grow and become better at their jobs. Instead of talking to employees about areas they are underperforming in, they will skirt around the subject and pretend that everything is great to their face and then talk about how they really want to let that person go. The good employees never stay because they quickly realize that benefits are poor, management is manipulative, and growth potential is a false hope. Why some people have been at cj for 10 and 15 years is a mystery. Maybe its because those employees dont care to be challenged in their careers and want to spend their days goofing off instead of learning and growing. And now they have resorted to selling off pieces of the business they can’t handle to other local companies. The CEO has decided that he can’t handle the digital arm of his company, so he gave up and passed it over to an IT consulting firm. Maybe they can help turn it around, but I hear their plan is as convoluted and full of false truths as everything else at cj. I hope everyone still at cj can either weather the storm or jump ship before its too late. Glad I made it out when I did.

Pros

I worked at cj Advertising full-time for more than 3 years Paid training Book club Fun break room Great people

Cons

There are a lot of perks but they are a complete facade. They pump you full up fun treats, a quarter on your desk for a surprise, paid book club, wii, cash for employee of the month, etc., but it's a lot cheaper to do that than pay you what you're worth. The pay is severely under market value. They fire people. A lot. And with no explanation. I was there for several years and every single round of new employees was followed with several fires. In my first week several people were fired - very welcoming. The owner is pompous and a bully. The entire company will shut down if he gets hit by a bus. Seriously. There is a plan so that if he decides he no longer wants to run the company the entire business just shuts down. The carry considerable debt. Ask anyone in the finance industry in Nashville. It seems fun and happy and you'll make great friends but there is a dark underbelly. Check the turnover rate. Check the client turnover rate.
