Pros

- Wonderful office staff, great people to work with, extremely friendly and dependable - SME's are knowledgeable - Hybrid model - Benefits decent, PTO decent - HR that actually cares about you as an employee

Cons

Warning: This is specifically for the Chicago office and my experience in the Marketing/ Proposals department, which has an extremely high turnover rate: - Unclear expectations: Rules and performance criteria for this department change on a whim - Unfairness: Preferential treatment for some while others are ignored. One employee given fully remote work to accommodate her circumstances, while the rest of the office and their circumstances were denied. - Marketing department not given any trust or autonomy to do their job. - Execution of proposals is often needlessly convoluted due to the acting VP's disorganization, disinterest, distrust, and unwillingness to allow feedback. - VP babysits every single department and micromanages to the point of neglecting things he needs to do. - Complaints are ignored. - Family owned, so there's no upwards mobility. - Ridiculously strict policy regarding in-office days and hybrid schedules despite all meetings being online, and 99% of the work being on the computer.

Small Company, very unstable, no room for growth & poor leadership

Pros

Since the company survives on winning public work, you can get lucky if you happen to land a contract position that has a decent amount of years with a decent client.

Cons

The company policies are cut throat and employees have very little say or protection against anything. New Employees coming on board definitely should read the fine print and company policies before signing on, you will find unconventional ruthless policies that work against the employees. Work culture is also very antiquated and not conducive for those seeking a good work life balance. Family run business that favors a few, very clickish office environment, and not inclusive to all.
