    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at dusk part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Product and nice smelling environment

    Cons

3 Hours a week when promised over 20 hours, and getting staff from other stores to do the shifts instead of getting their own staff to do the hours, Absolutely disgusting management (Area Manager) No responsibility, No Common Sense, No professionalism

    Advice to Management

    Improve your AREA MANAGERS

I worked at dusk full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Can't think of anything to be honest

    Cons

No support ,No team work ,alot of backstabbing and that's from state management team aswell as staff. Inflexibility to staff ,Terrible roster rotation and too focused on themselves looking great rather than customers satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Learn people skills and professionalisim to staff.

  4. "4 hours a week"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - Sales Assistant in Rockingham

I worked at dusk part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly staff, nice products and smells great in store with all the candles.

    Cons

Minimum hours for temps and permanent staff members, most weeks just being given 4 hours to work which is hard to live off of. When hired, it was not made clear that it would be so minimal. Computer systems antient and could be a lot simpler and quicker to use.

    Advice to Management

Clarify to future staff members the reality of the number of hours they will be likely to receive in the interview process as 4 hours is not enough for some.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at dusk part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - good discounts - fun job - good team instore

    Cons

    - upper management - stupid policies - head office places way to much pressure on staff.

    Advice to Management

Don’t expect casuals, that you give 3 hours a week to, to dedicate their life and soul to the store. Think through policies before you make them, and how they will affect staff on the ground.

    Negative Outlook

    I worked at dusk part-time

    Pros

30% discount, building positive relationships with some co-workers

    Cons

Low pay, minuscule hours for casuals (3 hours a week), management with superiority complexes, complaints of bullying not taken seriously, ridiculous KPI expectations with no incentive to perform, infuriating expectations regarding customer service which resulted in customers walking away and feeling uncomfortable coming into the store, products of low quality, return policy that makes it possible for people that... steal to return product for cash, managers expected to work full 9-10 hour days with no break as new staff cannot be left in the store, long days alone with only 3 hours relief from a casual, long and unattainable lists of tasks to be completed when alone in the store for majority of the day, area managers don’t care about positives only have criticism when the store doesn’t make target or sell enough lighters, outdated rewards program that people have to pay to join, blackout period that is strict for some staff but not for others.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your life priorities, be nice to the people you manage or they won’t perform, realise that not everyone’s life revolves around a candle shop, the way staff are currently treated will result in poor work ethic.
