I have been working at dusk part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - good discounts - fun job - good team instore

    Cons

    - upper management - stupid policies - head office places way to much pressure on staff.

    Advice to Management

Don’t expect casuals, that you give 3 hours a week to, to dedicate their life and soul to the store. Think through policies before you make them, and how they will affect staff on the ground.

    I worked at dusk part-time

    Pros

30% discount, building positive relationships with some co-workers

    Cons

Low pay, minuscule hours for casuals (3 hours a week), management with superiority complexes, complaints of bullying not taken seriously, ridiculous KPI expectations with no incentive to perform, infuriating expectations regarding customer service which resulted in customers walking away and feeling uncomfortable coming into the store, products of low quality, return policy that makes it possible for people that steal...

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your life priorities, be nice to the people you manage or they won’t perform, realise that not everyone’s life revolves around a candle shop, the way staff are currently treated will result in poor work ethic.

      Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at dusk part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Discounts on products, very friendly and engaged CEO, amazing team members (other customer assistants) and a good location (shopping centre)

      Cons

The pressure to achieve KPIs makes it difficult to enjoy. Area manager is disorganised, disconnected and only has feedback when something isn't good enough. If not employed as a store manager or assistant store manager, you're probably looking at getting 3 - 6 hours per week unless working through Christmas. There is no intrinsic or extrinsic motivation to achieve KPIs and your ability to fulfil them is only acknowledged...

      Advice to Management

No matter how stressful your job is, do not pass it on to the sales team as they are the front line of the company and a major part of the brand's image. Being negative and disconnected is not helpful. Avoid nitpicking and enforcing ridiculous rules to avoid customer complaints about unhappy/off-putting staff.

      Negative Outlook

      I worked at dusk full-time

      Pros

Nice products and nice in store team.

      Cons

WA area and state managers are bullies, with no respect for anyone or the company. Ridiculous amount of KPI's to hit constantly. Even if you made budget you were still reprimanded for not hiting all KPI's. You are expected to regularly do numerous hours of unpaid work, and your commitment would be questioned if you refused. I recommend to just stay away from this company.

      Advice to Management

Your high staff turnover is a reflection of how you treat them. Don't try turn your staff into robots who all do and say the same thing. A kind word once in a while goes a long way. You need a way of tracking who already has a rewards card. Can serve 10 people in a row, all with a rewards card, therefore KPI for rewards ends up at 0.
