Used to be a great company...

Pros

Competitive pay for the area, open PTO policy, decent benefits.

Cons

The company has gone downhill in past 6 months which seems to coincide with when new management was brought in. They changed the bonus structure to be paid out annually instead of quarterly and with the new rate, it's actually a good bit less. I get that it's a business and the bottom line is what matters, but don't force your engineers to be sales people or make them feel like it's their responsibility to have 100% billable time when there's no work going on...that's on your sales team! There were times I felt like I was being forced to lie on my billable time for a customer which I wouldn't since it's beyond unethical. Also, the company should've been giving their sales team incentives to sell services from the beginning and not halfway through the year when then numbers are low. There's a lot of micro managing going on and it's ridiculous that we get called/texted every night after work to see what we're working on the next day. We're grown adults here, there's no reason for that. This used to be a great, fun company to work for and it's sad to see where it's going. I've never seen so many employees leave in such a short amount of time. It feels like there's no growth in the company. They used to be really supportive when it came to expanding your skillsets and learning new technologies, however due to low numbers and being forced to be 100% billable (being asked to work more than 40 hours a week now), there's no opportunity to unless it's on your own time at home. The company should re-focus on it's employees and rebuild that work culture that made eGroup a great company to work for.

STILL A GREAT COMPANY! Great feedback here, though I tend to disagree with some of the stronger suggestions - especially the ones regarding ethics. As you know from being with us for over 3 years, we have a strong whistleblower mentality to our culture, and will not stand for anything less than ethical - having repeatedly demonstrated this time and again for our clients and team members alike by conducting investment and goodwill activities few companies would ever conceive of "giving away" to their clients. Furthermore our clients are completely involved in our billing and review cycles, so they have final authority on what has value and what does not - and anyone who has been with us for more than 6 months fully understands that the final judge of "time entry" is the client directly - and that if you can't defend the time you entered, then be prepared to hear about it from your client - directly! Full transparency internally and externally has always been the name of the game here at eGroup, so lying about time would be self-defeating from Day 1. And for the record, no one has ever been asked to work more than 40 hours a week - in fact our bonus has always been based on a 32-hour work week! With PTO that counts towards it!! Though it's always possible that something occurred that made you feel "unethical" about your time-entry, what's more probable is something with respect to your schedule was miscommunicated or misunderstood as we refocused on service team delivery objectives through the second half of the year - which is an opportunity for improvement once we agree to the basic eGroup code of honor and embrace that no one should never be made to feel, or be put in, a situation that would cause them to lie, fabricate, or do anything less than ethical. If this ever occurs, blow the whistle! This has been repeated often at eGroup - and I have the emails to prove it! If ever there is an instance where anything less than ethical occurs, or anything less than "100% right for the client" occurs, my door is open and the leadership team is fully committed. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing - and I'm sure you've seen some significant steps taken on all fronts throughout Q4 2015 as we've continued to adjust to the services-based refocusing we set out to accomplish in early 2015. I do understand that change isn't for everyone, and that at times in the journey, we must adjust to a path that may change the "rules of the road" somewhat. However, our mission is purposeful, and always communicated openly, and the choice is yours as to whether it is in harmony with your purpose and your destination in life. If not, we will gladly see you on, even cheer you on. We value honesty and engagement, not excuses and complaints - and we fully expect for the members of our team to be a part of the solution - in real-time. As an eGrouper, we value the use of your active voice, and always fully embrace an open-door policy, so I would urge you to bring your actionable thoughts directly to your peer team and help contribute to the direct changes you wish to see to keep us getting better. A great opportunity to create change is at the upcoming company meeting, where you can submit your questions directly (or anonymously if needed), and expect a thoughtful, accurate response and action from fellow eGroupers. Again, thanks for the thoughtfulness of your response, for caring enough to share, and for everything you do in the service of our clients! (Just be sure not to overbill them!)

Pros

Amazing culture, full WFH, great opportunity, fantastic leadership, great place to work.

Cons

The benefits, specifically insurance, is comically bad. Like more expensive than I have ever seen in my whole career for really bad insurance.

Thanks for the review - and I appreciate the affirmation of the strong team culture and favorable ratings! We've worked very hard over the past 18 months to "level up" in line with our growth, knowing that along the way some decisions were made that were right in some regards, but wrong in others. Thankfully, we've been able to navigate through the transformation of the industry, our business, and some specific individuals to get to where we wanted to be. Glassdoor doesn't provide me with an opportunity to know when you left the team so all I can say is that this is a great opportunity to openly communicate that eGroup has always succeeded "because of" our team, not at the expense of it. Having just invested in, and celebrated our 2017 kick-off at Kiawah Island in open recognition of every member of our team, and in appreciation of every individual's accomplishments (from my opening keynote), it's certainly disappointing to see the "doesn't see the true value of employees" statement. I’d value any direct suggestions you may have for the team – you’ll know my email and phone number from your time with us – and that we value direct and actionable feedback. The mention of “engineers getting assigned to tasks they're not properly trained for” indicates a slight unfamiliarity with the method in which we assign, communicate, and deliver projects, considering we take care to ensure the team is aligned and ready for work to commence through a series of internal, then customer-facing calls, talking through scopes, and ensuring we’re “good to go” before work ever commences, but I suppose it’s possible that your time pre-dates the maturity of our current process. As indicated in previous responses I've written for Glassdoor, I maintain a 100% open door policy for any member of the eGroup team, or broader community, to express their concerns, needs, suggestions, or expectations! No need to be anonymous and nonspecific with this much team support ready to invest in, and cheer on, your success. We’re ready to put your suggestions for improvements into practice.
