Pros

The only pro here is that the individuals to work with are wonderful. You all bond over how to survive the insanity that is the CEO/Owner and commiserate over shared experiences. You will remain friends with most of those you meet here.

Cons

I can attest to all of the reviews here, they are all true regardless of how angry or exaggerated they may sound, they are 100% factual. There was in fact an employee that was told to adopt since our healthcare did not cover labor, maternity (there is no maternity here), fertility or anything related to that, there was also an employee that was told to take unpaid vacation time to recover when she had surgery to remove Cancerous tumors from both her lungs, there was also an employee that was terrified to reveal she was pregnant because she feared she would lose her job, and these are just a few, read the reviews for more. While I was there people constantly found a way to look at the positive because we truly believed in the future of the business. We were promised change, we were apologized to (one employee was apologized to publicly by the CEO during a company meeting because of how harsh he was towards her on a regular basis but that didn't last long as that was followed by strings of emails reminding her of her worthlessness- she has since moved on), but nothing ever changed. When you speak to employees here you can hear the emptiness in their voices, the exhaustion, and the beaten down tone. Unfortunately when you leave you have such PTSD that you find yourself behaving like a battered puppy just to make sure you don't disappoint your new employer. All exit interviews reflect that he is the issue here. He will likely read these reviews and say we're all angry ex-employees that sucked, but the truth is all of the individuals that worked here were amazing contributors who have worked at some of the largest organizations out there, they came to EHS because they believed in the little guy. In fact, all, (if not most), ex-employees of EHS have moved on to become amazing contributors at their current organizations. No one that worked there was an angry individual we were all generally happy people, I chose to write this to warn those of you out there who may believe that you can be the change- you wont be. Realize that no-one here listed the people suck, because they don't. He does.

We do have a great team and very strong business outlook; I’m thankful you also appreciate that, and I’m thankful for your feedback. I’m truly sorry you had a poor experience during your time at EHS. The transition from a big company to a smaller entrepreneurial business is not easy. Thank you for your feedback on our benefits. While our benefits are competitive and even above average vis-à-vis other small businesses, we can always improve them and we evaluate them regularly looking for new ways to assist and benefit our team. For example, we offer healthcare and dental plans as well as matching 401K benefits, while many small businesses do not. Please understand, not all benefits that large companies offer are even available to small businesses (many we cannot offer even if we wanted too). It’s a significant competitive disadvantage we and other small business struggle with regularly, but we try to make up for it in other ways when recruiting. Small businesses have a key advantage of big businesses as well in our ability to adapt and change quickly, and what we hear from team members the most is that at EHS you can more readily feel that your daily efforts and hard work are making a real difference. They can see their efforts influencing change and see the improvements by product of their work unfolding in real time. That’s one thing EHS offers that a big company cannot. At a big company, one is often just a small cog in the machine. We thank you for your feedback and wish you much success in your future endeavors. Best Regards, R.J. Lewis Founder & CEO

Pros

The people I met and will continue to stay in touch with. Adam Johnson hired me, and he was phenomenal. If he was still here, I would have done amazing in this role with his support and leadership. WFH is also a perk.

Cons

Too many to list, but I will do my best. The biggest Con is the CEO of this company. In short, he is running this company into the ground. There is no work-life balance, I was just forced to use PTO for a sickness, and he thinks he owns you since he pays you a salary. Upon accepting my offer I was promised a certain style of leadership and culture. I was honestly excited! But after the EVP of sales left, rightfully so, everything went downhill VERY rapidly. The role I signed up for was completely changed, and not at all what I wanted. I was randomly expected to make 100+ calls a day (never mentioned in my offer), the original expectation was 35-40 personalized out reaches per day to land meetings. I was expected to pick up accounts that I knew nothing about, and I was expected to not ask questions about the turnover. It became a very toxic environment and I was expected to "Smile and Dial" all day long. Which is fine (there are roles for that), but that's not the job that was on the posting and not at all what I signed up to do. I have had that job before in a call center, it's something I would NEVER do again. I did my time. My favorite incident here was receiving an email directly from the CEO / Sales Manager / Account Manager (whatever you want to call him, the man has over 5 titles) "Nice Job Today" as the subject because I had hit 100 activities (regardless of saying to him it was NOT obtainable to do that much and take meetings etc). Followed by being called a disappointment. WHY was I a disappointment 30 minutes later? Because I refused to take a meeting that was scheduled over my lunch break. My lunch break has been the same since day 1 and is blocked off on my calendar. The CEO placed this meeting on my calendar OVER my lunch 45 minutes before the meeting was happening, I was unprepared and unwilling to take it. This was done intentionally because he forced us to share our full calendar with him so he could control it. I am sorry I value my personal time and stepping away to nourish my body. I deserve after the amount of anxiety and stress that comes with this job. Next, the benefits are horrendous. I actually declined healthcare coverage because of how expensive it is. Not to mention for any mothers to be, there is no maternity leave. Also, no culture whatsoever. Meetings are quiet and awkward, probably because most people are checked out and searching for better opportunities. It is honestly sad the amount of turnover he has had. Now, you're probably asking yourself... Why don't the employees speak up and voice concerns? And truth is we have, one guy was fired for standing his ground and OFFERING to step up in a higher role because he had the respect of the entire sales team. My very first meeting as a new employee was logging onto RJ addressing a survey regarding his horrible leadership, and yet nothing improved. Talk about a welcoming first call, geez. He forces us to learn this silly acronym "OAR" and "BED" OAR - ownership, accountability, and response (above the line). BED - blame, excuse, denial (below the line). RJ is a below the line manager and always will be if he continues to take no accountability for driving away good people. He blames everyone but himself for the turnover, he even blames the great resignation. He even said in a meeting "at least we won't have to worry about the upcoming recession because so many people have already laid themselves off." He is in complete DENIAL regarding his leadership and he thinks people admire him. RJ, I truly hope you are reading this and you have seen the other reviews because you truly need a wake up call. It is embarrassing at this point. Especially when potential customers are constantly being passed along because of so many people leaving. I was happy to leave this review because I hope it helps the next person avoid this situation entirely. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I abruptly quit because I couldn't stand the thought of working for him for one more minute. Especially as my entire team QUIT! Leadership has QUIT -- I was quite literally one of the last ones standing, so the micromanaging only got worse. Not ideal as I have no other job lined up, I just bought a brand new house, and inflation. But at least I will get my mental health back on track. Whatever you do, do not take this job.

I’m truly sorry you had a poor experience at EHS. It’s an especially difficult professional experience when the hiring manager who hired you leaves just a few months after you and several other teammates come on board and a new team was formed. In such situations, one’s adaptability is certainly tested through the transition to a new manager with different expectations and a different way of operating. It certainly does not make it any easier when you are also changing industries and learning a whole new business and market at the same time, as most people on the new team at the time, were doing. Transitions to an entirely new industry are sometimes successful and sometimes not – but they are almost always challenging. This was clearly a difficult period for you, and it pains me greatly, both personally and professionally, to read your review and better understand the frustration and stress you were under. You pain is palpable. I wish we could have discussed these concerns in person while you were here, as I’m sure we could have addressed most of them if we worked on them together. I’d welcome the opportunity to talk with you more about this experience, or if you’d be more comfortable speaking with HR, we’d be happy to schedule time. We wish you much success in your future endeavors. Best Regards, R.J. Lewis Founder & CEO

Pros

They have some exclusive channel sales partnerships - WFH - a couple of good managers; current and former…yep, they leave too. Often. Fair pay.

Cons

One micromanaging person who makes working there miserable. Untrustung, micro-manages to all levels. He’s the CEO. He is in EVERY meeting, and he talks in every meeting more than everyone else combined. I think if he would just get out of half the meetings, and focused on doing CEO things, this company would actually grow…pretty sad to be in business for 20+ years and watch every competitor come to pass them in every “business stat”. Honestly, I had limited interaction with him…but when I did, I just acted interested and replied to emails and all (again, WFH is a pro). It’s actually kind of sad, when you do and know others do so little…and just work to look busy, collect a paycheck and mine Indeed. Now that I’m out, he has actually become a punch line to my peers that also got out. I wish I could be more constructive here, but the absolute truth is that one person is ruining this company…but it’s his company. I recommend steering clear.
