Pros

Flexibility - potential ability to work from home Resources made available - laptop, cell phone Accessible location Expected to work additional hours Bonus potential for recruiters based on placements Management supports those who are successful

Cons

Micro-management Little room for growth Upper management often interferes in recruiting process and forces underhanded actions to get the placement. Very unethical in this respect; they would disregard the operating contract rules with specific clients and force the recruiter to do the same. Further, if discovered, would use the recruiter as a scapegoat and blame their inexperience. Minimal training. Management focuses on punishing rather than developing their employees. Bonuses often undercut by upper management because they would involve themselves in the recruitment process and argue that the recruiter did not do all of the work, therefore will not receive full bonus (which is often untrue). Not a very positive work culture overall. Thus company is a little fish in a big pond, and management expects to keep up with the giant recruiting firms. This seems to be what gets management involved in placements, and causes interference with the recruiters.

Dear Disgruntled ex-employee: I thank you so much for your feedback. We disagree with most of your allegations you have put forward and below is the explanation: Micro-management: You mentioned that employees are being micro-managed. All the recruitment companies conducts a daily huddle meeting which emergiTEL does as well to discuss daily progress. Our clients measure our performance based on our ability to respond to 100% of job requisitions and within a deadline. In such a fast paced environment, everyone is made responsible for their daily tasks and an aggressive follow up is done. Those performing up to the expectations are given more freedom whereas laggards are provided with more help and supervision to improve. Little Room for Growth: Again we refute to this allegation and on the contrary, we have individuals who were able to get promoted from Jr. Technical Recruiters to Sr. Technical Recruiters based on their performance. In a smaller company, there is a higher chance of getting noticed easily by virtue of superior performance whereas poor performance does not go unnoticed either. Every year, we promote 10-20% of employees on average based on performance and these are factual numbers. Malpractices on Part of Senior Management: Once again a completely false allegation. emergiTEL is in business since last 9 years where it has been awarded as Champion of Immigrant Success, # 1 Vendor with 2 of the Top 3 telecom operators in Canada, #73rd fastest company in terms of growth as per P500 to mention a few achievements. In addition, emergiTEL has been known for being socially responsible and ethical organization as it goes far to help students by giving away scholarships and new immigrants in getting their first jobs. There is been no single occasion where the company has disregarded contract rules for any of its clients and this allegation has no concrete basis. Minimal Training: Senior Recruiters, who brings in their valuable industry experience are paid much higher and are expected to be trained enough to produce results in shorter time span whereas fresh graduates/less experienced recruiters are provided with thorough on-the-job training and on average, they start producing results after 6 months. Those who under perform are given sufficient time to overcome their shortcomings. Rewards Management: Stating that upper management cuts bonuses by involving them in Recruitment process has no grounds. Recruiters are expected to source candidates by using intelligent ways and are paid commission if they source a candidate on their own. There is a clear commission policy handed over to the recruiters on day 1 of their job during the orientation session. Also I must mention here is that all the recruiters and account managers at emergiTEL are eligible for commission of the mark-up which is the highest among all the competitors in the same industry. Competition with the Big Firms: emergiTEL Management trusts that its employees have the potential to compete with any big company in the market. It is currently competing with all them and have already beaten them by becoming # 1 supplier with one of the biggest telecom operator in Canada. There is no point why emergiTEL should not thrive to be the best in the industry. Overall Culture and Work Environment: This is one of the areas we are working on. Quarterly events and annual activities are planned for 2015. Work hours are flexible to suit needs of all. Employees can work from home, can take extended breaks to get their errands done etc. Professionalism in Dealing with Employees: We have a full-fledged HR department which is there to ensure employee rights are secured whether or not they are aware of those. HR has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that rights of both employee and employer are safeguarded and there have been numerous examples where HR has gone against management’s wishes to satisfy employee concerns. All in all, we take criticism seriously and we will address a few concerns you or some other employees have, however, it’s unfortunate that most of the allegations of being unethical and cruel are baseless and are coming since you no more work with us.
