Pros

I have worked with MR for a number of year in a number of different roles starting as a consultant and now as a FTE. I have experience the repaid growth of MRM and been first hand with the Leadership Team. I love the passion of the staff, the desire to create a great product with a focus on customer engagement and satisfaction. Perhaps best of all is the Culture that puts staff first. In my 30 + years of business experience I have never witnessed a company that does so much for the wellbeing of their employee's. It follows then that the team are vibrant, engaged and sow into a great working environment.

Cons

The team is now spread all over the world, from Sydney (me) to the UK and now all across the USA. Whilst this is fun and provides great opportunities, managing time zones can be a little cumbersome.

Hello in Sydney, Kel! Thanks for sharing your review on Glassdoor - we really appreciate it! We couldn't agree more, MRM is a special place to work. It's not always easy but what great challenges to have! We're hyperscaling, breaking into new markets and working with some of the world's biggest brands. We're not losing focus on what's important along the way - our culture and our people. Thanks for being part of the team. No matter what timezone, we can always rely on your Aussie energy!

Pros

Some good people, though most have now left.

Cons

The compensation package on offer is so poor that the engineering team is effectively unable to recruit - particularly at the senior level. And the team is severely understaffed. Severe technichal debt means that the few resources that the team does have are mostly consumed by addressing production bugs. As you'll be working on ill-conceived systems with less experienced coworkers, there isn't a lot of room to develop your skills. The engineering function at MRM has deep-rooted issues with burnout. I saw a number of people take extended leave or outright quit due to exhaustion. They've lost almost the entire team, including the CTO, over the last year. MRM leadership likes to talk about their ambitions to become a software company, but this feels like an empty phrase due to a lack of willigness to seriously understand and address concerns raised by engineers. It behaves like a sales team with an engineering arm. Overall, MRM offers below-market compensation, no real career development and the possibility that you'll experience burnout within a year.

We’re really sorry to read this review. There’s no doubt, there’s been a lot of change in MRM Global over the past 12 months. Growing a company isn’t a smooth ride on a freshly surfaced road - Covid was definitely a big diversion for us! We’re on track and excited about the progress we’re making and the investment in our product, technology and team. We’re transforming our Brand Creator app to handle the scale of demand from our global clients. It’s an exciting time to be part of the team who are creating the next generation of the platform including a progressive web app, fresh and attractive user interface and upgraded and simplified back-end infrastructure. We continue to add new talent to an experienced team who’ve been with MRM over a number of years. We know it’s challenging, as well as exciting, so we’re supporting our core team with added resource through an external agency in the short term. This gives the team access to resource, support and experience to help us make Brand Creator even more brilliant! We know tech talent is more in demand than ever right now. As well as keeping close to market changes, giving significant pay increases to stay competitive and adding to our team, it’s really important to us that we look after people. Recognising how challenging last year was for MRM Global, we closed the company at the beginning of the year to give people time to rest and recharge. Summer Fridays are also back! People can make the most of the lighter evenings and good weather with our Summer Friday initiative. Most importantly we’re investing in the Leadership of our Engineering function with the appointment of a highly experienced CTO and leader. Our new CTO will deliver our tech ambition while developing and supporting our talented team of engineers, managers and product experts. We’re revolutionising our technology that eliminates the wasted marketing materials that end up in landfill. We’re excited about the impact that we have and the difference we make, but we get that the scale up journey isn’t for everyone and wish you all the best in your new role.

Pros

Big global clients Some great colleagues

Cons

Staff treated badly throughout the pandemic. Redundancies sprung on us months down the line despite furlough scheme, and then new people were hired straight after. No career development opportunities (although spoken about a lot in performance reviews these were never followed through) Cut-throat approach to company growth. Mental health in employees again although spoken about was not taken seriously when issues arose. Zero diversity in the team - everyone is white

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we value your feedback. The hospitality industry we support was badly affected by the Covid19 pandemic and as a result we had to make some really difficult decisions at that time, making some roles redundant in order for our business to survive. We're really sorry that you were personally impacted by this. Coming out of the pandemic we're in a positive position now with significant opportunity for growth and investment. We know our team are critical to our success and we now have a People team to support the business. We've introduced an internal job board to give everyone in MRM visibility of the opportunities to grow and progress with the business. We're growing at a fast pace, but people are supported by their managers and through a number of wellbeing initiatives we've introduced. Please contact us directly if you'd like to provide any more information that would help us look into and learn from your experience.
