Dysfunctional organization

Pros

Great product with nice interface that could be even better, given the right circumstances and better overall capacity to handle larger customers with large product ranges.

Cons

You are more likely to hear what you did wrong than what you did well, appreciation towards employees is non-existent, and promotions are often given to newer employees despite suitable senior employees. Lack of transparency, lack of clarity, and lack of internal processes. Decision-making in the company is often haphazard and without real logic, and decisions are often made by management where employees are rarely (if at all) listened to, yet are supposed to execute on. Long-term solutions, ideas and goals are rarely (if ever) appreciated or preferred.

Pros

Great product and some very well-known customers. If they can develop a strategy and execute on it, could be a good target for a purchase by a bigger SaaS company.

Cons

Decision-making is often very myopic and dysfunctional and there is literally no strategy behind many activities or decisions. Lack of internal processes, collaboration or inter-team support--employees are happy to jump on you with criticism and nastiness at any moment. Employees run the gamut from inspired to mediocre to completely incompetent. Weak leadership across the board. Some "groupthink" has resulted in key competitors gaining ground since inRiver leadership didn't believe them to be a threat.

Less talk and more action needed across the board

Pros

Great product with a nice interface. Plenty of well-known customers. Flexible working arrangements and a friendly working environment for the most part. Strong company values.

Cons

Weak and ineffective leadership in certain teams. Inexperienced managers living in cuckoo-land who expect results yet don't implement any type of structure to reach them. Constant change - business structure, business processes, roles. It felt like nothing could stay the same for more than two months. The enforcement of an American style culture on European employees has not gone down well; its negative impact visible in the amount of long-term employees that have left the company over the past year. Non-existent employee development plans. Little to no support from HR.
