Pros

you get to work from home and go on at least one trip to Cuba

Cons

they don't give you any opportunity to move up in the company and they don't pay you enough to continue working there. there are 4 people in the company who make all the decisions and they are all terrible business people with little experience in the travel industry. the company is definitely not doing great right now and about 4 people were fired in the past few months and everyone is looking for other jobs because no one feels like the company will last another year. those same 4 people who manage the company don't respect any of the other employees and don't value them at all. the business structure needs a complete makeover

Thank you for your feedback. I hope that you will reach out to anyone who you feel comfortable confiding in at our company to address your concerns. Regarding your comments, I regret to know that you are disappointed about opportunities to move up within the organization. We understand that opportunities for growth are very important to everyone and we try to encourage staff to express their interest in moving up and continuing to grow with us. We actually prefer to promote from within, and as you probably are already aware, 80% of our management positions are held by people who started at an entry level position within the company. In the past six months, two employees received a promotion. As we are a small company, changes of positions and promotions are based on merit as well as the needs of the organization. As far as employee compensation, we periodically evaluate our benefits and compensation package against nationwide averages, those offered within the travel industry, and many found here on Glassdoor, and we’ve found that we exceed those standards for other comparable companies in the travel industry and found on Glassdoor. Additionally, our staff recently started working remotely, which allows maximum employee flexibility, improves work-life balance, and saves on commuting time and expenses. With regard to your comment regarding the health of insightCuba, while we are always looking to be a better company for our guests and our employees, it's worth mentioning here that we just came off our two most successful years out of the past 17, created and launched a new travel brand with 15 new products, won the World’s Top Cuba Travel Specialist Award from Condé Nast Traveler magazine for the second year in a row, and recently hired two great staff members.

Pros

InsightCuba will show you all that you DONT want in an employer. You will know what NOT to look for when you're searching for a new job.

Cons

All the positive reviews on this forum are definitely written by upper management. I know for a fact that at least 2 of the positive reviews are written by management in an effort to improve their over all ratings. They are lies... do not believe them.

Pros

In general, my colleagues were great. Everyone is super enthusiastic about traveling and it is a young atmosphere filled with mainly females in there 20's. You do get the opportunity to travel on one of the different tours with all expenses paid for. This position will give you customer service experience and you will learn various mediums such as Salesforce to add to a resume.

Cons

One ex-colleague said that within the 1-2 years working there, there have been about 16 individuals who have quit, there may be more now. Usually, people leave before a full year working there. The pay doesn't reflect the average Salary for the New York area. It is a relatively low paying job and if you do decide to live in Manhattan you will commute about an hour to work each day on the MetroNorth. There is no transportation funds, so you will need to budget this. It's difficult to move up in this company, they overwork employees with good work ethic and those without a good work ethic get more recognition. Not a place that takes constructive criticism well. In the initial interview I was told there is great room to move up within the company and found this not to be true.
