Good for some

Pros

Fast paced, smaller business means more autonomy and your voice matters, I understand the “cult” references and it does feel that way on entry into the company but really it’s just a group of passionate people which can sometimes be a bad thing as it makes them blind to issues with the system or company but most of the time it’s genuinely a nice feeling

Cons

The pay discrepancies between colleagues leaves a sour taste, knowing you’re working alongside people with the same experience, same role and same responsibilities but being paid significantly less means I have a distrust in the business, the lack of bonuses, and the “shares” you’re promised are practically a pipedream

Good people, but significant room for improvement

Pros

Supportive colleagues and strong relationships across many teams. Opportunity to gain exposure to different areas of the business. Fast-paced environment where employees are encouraged to take ownership. Good learning experience for those looking to develop commercial skills in a scaling software company.

Cons

The reality of some roles may differ significantly from the position presented during the recruitment process. Expectations, KPIs and targets are high, but supporting resources, tools and processes do not always evolve at the same pace. Management communication can lack transparency and consistency, making it difficult for employees to understand priorities and expectations. Concerns raised by employees are not always addressed in a meaningful or visible way. There can be significant differences in management style and expectations across teams, resulting in an inconsistent employee experience. Accountability is not always applied consistently across the organisation. Workplace behaviours that negatively impact team culture are not always challenged or addressed. The culture places a strong emphasis on positivity and alignment, which may make it difficult for employees to openly challenge decisions or raise concerns. Frequent changes in direction can create uncertainty and make long-term planning difficult.
