Pros

fast paced, excellent comp/benefits. Paul English is accessible and has a legendary team around him.

Cons

This is a high-energy, high-pressure, assembly line type of operation. Lots of smart engineers in the room - and lots of smart managers. Very hierarchical. Ideas flow downward, and the engineer's role is to fill in the blanks on the calls product managers and designers make. There are already too many cooks in the brew, so be prepared to be heads down and focusing on your code. There are a number of edgy MIT types on the team who are only too happy to tell you you're doing it wrong. Woe betide the developer who goes against the accepted doctrine on tooling, coding style, etc. The way of communicating around issues like this can come off as aggressive. Be prepared to deal with angry, stressed-out people.

The Real Deal

Pros

Lola's company culture is off the charts good. The team does a fantastic job of finding bright folks who fit the company culture well and people are given the freedom to create + execute here. The tasks ahead are exciting, challenging, and important. For me, those qualities make up the majority of motivators to walk into the office. The market is exciting. Business travel is painfully underserved by GOOD tech, and Lola.com is changing that more and more every day.

Cons

Things move quickly. Startups + modern tech = speed. Things can and should change. If you consider yourself inflexible or you need continuity, it might not be the greatest spot to land. If you like a challenge and don't mind treading uncharted waters with a great team - keep your eyes open.
