Pros

Well executed remote first policy and, for those up to the challenge, the combination of there being tons to learn and very technically adept coworkers willing to help you get up to speed will make for some some great experiences. Provided hardware is as good as it gets and cutting edge tooling.

Cons

Within my team processes were constantly changing or at times completely absent. Relationships with higher ups can go from explicitly satisfied to irreconcilably dissatisfied seemingly overnight. Not much more to say that hasn't already been said around leadership, most of which I emphatically agree with. It's worth adding that leaderships communications to employees around the state/direction of the company are intentionally vague, and dangerously close to outright dishonest. For example, the CEO's company update in April (https://www.solo.io/blog/solo-io-update-2023/) followed by several rounds of layoffs starting not even two months later. I highly caution anyone considering investing their time and efforts here that they may not be as requited as the company heads would like you to believe.

Pros

Interesting customer use cases with large enterprise customers

Cons

Executive team is inexperienced at scaling a start-up. The leadership team is not transparent with employees. Towards the end of 2023, they kept saying the company had enough capital to weather any downturn......Revenue fell off significantly and they did two poorly executed rounds of layoffs. They dismantled the entire sales team. The leadership team might have received a pay out on one of the funding rounds and there is little motivation to create valued equity for the remaining employees. They provided very little transparency on the value of employee stock. The Eng team keeps investing in the development of 5 different products that are plagued with bugs and have limited value compared to the competition. Services mesh adoption is questionable with many large customers. No clear long term vision for any sort of exit event.
