Pros

I enjoyed my time at tapQA. I had worked as a QA consultant for a number of years, and found tapQA to be by far the best firm I've worked for. They were the most responsive company when it came to letting me know about opportunities and I felt they cared about how good of a fit the role was, and that the location would be OK. Other firms I had worked with had been typically staff augmentation companies aka "Body Shops" and I never felt they really had my best interests in mind. TapQA did a great job of finding two assignments that were great fits. I'd still be working there today but the last client they matched me to was so good, I stayed here. But I'd recommend tapQA to anyone who is interested in consulting as a QA.

Cons

A previous reviewer mentioned tapQA did not treat them well "on the bench." That couldn't be further from the truth for me. I was treated very well in-between assignments, working with other consultants on training for new skills and the sales and HR and recruiting teams kept me updated on future possibilities. The "con" here is more just the nature with consulting - sometimes you are in-between assignments. But tapQA handles this better than anyone else I've ever worked with. Also, as a consultant, I would appreciate more networking opportunities to get to know other consultants. TapQA has some of these events but it would always be nice to have more. I always enjoyed everyone I worked with from tapQA - they hire great people.

Best place I've ever worked

Pros

TapQA is growing quickly so there is still a start up, exciting energy. Management is very approachable and tries very hard to make sure I am satisfied with my position and the progression of my career. There are lot of perks - game room, snacks, food on Friday, happy hour, softball, mud run groups, and a lot of other stuff. More importantly to me is that I I feel I am a valued member of this company. I have worked at numerous clients while employed with TapQA, and have never once had to worry about a contract coming due and not having a job. TapQA very closely monitors all contract dates and has always either gotten extensions or rolled me immediately onto a new project. Earlier in my career I worked as an FTE software tester for a large company and I was frustrated at the speed of which I could grow my career and increase my salary. TapQA does a great job of rewarding hard work and increasing salaries for existing employees - unlike some places where the only way to get a good bump is to keep bouncing around employers.

Cons

There are aspects of consulting that can be considered "cons". Sometimes we work at client locations that makes for a bad commute. Sometimes the work feels too easy or the tech stack isn't what we would like to be working with or learning. But these aren't problems with TapQA, and there are a lot of positives and opportunities that only consulting can provide.

Pros

tap|QA has a welcoming environment. Everyone is invited to play softball (spring), join happy hours after work, go to Tuesday night movies, play ping pong and foosball. It doesn't take long to feel at home here. They are also good about giving raises and bonuses (referral bonuses are worth your while). They feed us lunch or breakfast every Friday, provide snacks on Tuesday/Thursdays, and have drinks (soda, ice tea, coffee, etc.) available everyday. They offer training courses every once in a while - the last one was an automation training that was a 12-week program. Co-workers are cool and environment is relaxed.

Cons

I can't think of anything that I would change. I like the people and my work.
