It’s all a façade!

Pros

The office itself is brand new. Also, the technology is pretty up to date. Some practice groups get treated decent by the management team.

Cons

Management team is made up of staff, not lawyers! They make decisions that hurt the firm (ex: hundreds of thousands on health initiates no one wants just to win awards). Compensation is really low compared to the other bigger firms though they say the make up the difference in bonuses (which they don't). Morale is really low among junior partners and associates. Its like 4 firms trying to work as one.

Pros

Generally the people are nice to work with and easy to get along with. The benefits are decent for a smaller company.

Cons

When the people are not easy to get along with, they are very difficult to get along with. The firm culture encourages the attorneys to feel like it is their own solo firm leaving the culture very fractured - one group may not have any interest in working with another group. They want to talk as if they are open to new ideas and ways of doing things but as soon as one is proposed it will be met with heavy resistance. The popular phrase was "but we don't do it that way."

Pros

Pay for associates is good

Cons

Lack of direction from practice group leaders, lawyers cut corners on corporate work but charge clients excessively, high employee turnover due to lack of communication and direction, management is more concerned with image than substantive work product, HR Department terminates based on salary and disability of workers
