Did you know Friday 6 October is World Cerebral Palsy Day? Ahead of the day we’re sharing Tayla’s story. Tayla is one of the bright young people we met this year who shared her experience of finding a rewarding job through APM Employment Services. Living with cerebral palsy, Tayla faced many barriers from potential employers when she searched for employment. Her early experiences of being rejected or disappointed by workplaces also had a negative impact on her mental health. But as you’ll see in the video below, Tayla was determined to find a job where she could be valued and bring a hugely rewarding impact on the lives of others. We’re grateful for Tayla, the APM Employment Services team, and the staff and residents and St John Respect for sharing their story with us. We recently saw Andrew feature in the local media for his shining success at employment in Benalla. We’re thrilled to share this video he filmed with us to show how he worked with his local APM Employment Services team to find a job he loves. Andrew faced challenges to finding work due to his ADHD and autism, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to succeed. And his personable nature and friendly approach were just some of the qualities that caught the attention of Kathryn and the team at Munro & Sargeant Café in the Benalla art gallery. See how Andrew is welcoming people to the local business and has found his place in a warm and happy team. Thanks to Andrew and everyone who helped put this story together.

How are you supporting LGBTQIA+ members of your team, your customers and your community? APM’s Pride team recently shared some fantastic resources with our colleagues and leaders for #PrideMonth, including these simple and important tips from our teammate MJ (Emilia Hawcroft). As MJ points out below, there are simple ways all businesses can actively support members of the LGBTQIA+ community. These include small changes to be aware of the language we all use and how to handle any mistakes if we use an incorrect term. And perhaps most important, to always base our actions in kindness and speak up if we notice something that might not be fair for LGBTQIA+ people. Thanks again to MJ and the Pride team for sharing their insights and helping ensure more LGBTQIA+ people in our lives feel safe, accepted and respected, whether they’re colleagues, friends or family members. #LGBT #Inclusion #Pride More Resources • Minus18 Pronoun Game: https://bit.ly/3JobRV2 Practice using different pronouns. • QLife QDirectory: https://bit.ly/3CHsfwh Find local LGBTQIA+ services and organisations. • TransHub: https://bit.ly/3pd3EMz Practical advice for allies, including colleagues, employers, researchers, friends, families and more. • CoHealth Trans & Gender Diverse Inclusion Guide: https://bit.ly/3Pnw2q8 Additional tips for making trans and gender diverse folks feel welcome and supported. • American Psychological Association (APA): https://bit.ly/3qSFAPC Further information on why we use
