Happy 10 year work anniversary to Location Manager Debbie! We’d like to join the celebrations of Debbie’s long service by sharing a quote from her and a fab photo from her party at Reverend Bill Baker Court. ‘I can honestly say that I enjoy the job now just as much as I did the first day I started in post. I embrace Anchor’s core values and always want to do the best for the residents. I enjoy everything about the job and just absolutely love seeing residents when they first move in to when they are settled. I always put a ‘welcome to your new home’ sign on the door of every new resident which always makes them smile. I have excellent contacts in the local community which I can draw on to bring different entertainment for the residents e.g. therapy ponies, local entertainment, circus, alpacas, local college to name a few. Here is to another 10 years making a positive difference!’ Debbie’s passion for residents is clear to see, thank you for all you’ve contributed over your time with us (so far!).
July is Disability Pride Month - a time to promote awareness and celebrate the achievements of the disabled community. Throughout the month, our EnABLE Colleague Network are hosting webinars, including guest speaker Chloe Tear, and sharing resources to continually help Anchor strive for better. Alex Byers, EnABLE Chair, said the following: “The support and allyship I’ve experienced through the enABLE Network have been truly empowering. This Disability Pride Month, I’m proud to stand alongside my colleagues at Anchor to celebrate our strengths and our commitment to inclusivity.” Being a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer it's really important that our awareness and support doesn't just happen in July. Inclusion is a consistent effort, and the colleague networks really help to embed this work in everything we do. Christine, Receptionist at Dawson Lodge recently celebrated a phenomenal 15 years service with us – what a tremendous achievement. 👏 When we asked Christine what she likes most about her job, it was no surprise that in this people-facing role, that it was the residents and their families who make her day. Here’s what she said: "I enjoy meeting new families when they arrive with the relative who will be staying with us. Over the years, I’ve met many families and got to know them very well – some have sent me cards and best wishes which are very nice to receive." Naturally over 15 years, Christine has seen many changes take place within the home and the wider care industry but said throughout her career Dawson Lodge has been a nice place to work, commending the Home Manager Kirsten and wider care team. Well done Christine!
